“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”― Lewis Carroll

Story of v - Chapter 9

Story of v - chapter 9
T'was early morning and Veronica awoke to the sun in her face and the smell of coffee brewing. Her hand raised, one eye squinting as she tried to block the sun with her palm. It had been way too long since she had either of those things happen. The aroma of the coffee bean, damn, what a real privilege. You really don't appreciate things like sunshine and coffee, that is until it is taken from you.

The emerald haired lamb opened her heavy eyes, now coming to the realization that she was on a futon that was dressed in clean-white linens, and pillows with actual pillowcases. Veronica also realized, she wasn't dressed in the hospital gown she was in any longer and was just in a plain white T-shirt, and white cotton panties. Sitting up, and looking around what was to be a bedroom; she had no idea where she was and was having trouble remembering how she had gotten there.

Turning over and sitting up, she slowly took her ratty hair down from the messy bun atop of her head and rolled her head. Hearing and feeling her neck crack several times. It was stiff as a board and she was just a hot mess on a summer day. Soon she got up from the futon, her knees weak, she was exhausted.

Veronica then cautiously, and quietly opened the door of the bedroom. With one wide eye, she scanned around, as much as she could visualize that is. Finally, she entered the hallway, her nose following that smell that had awoken her. That sweet dark cup of caffeine, she needed and wanted it so badly. More than hard sex.

Making her way into the living room, which was right off of the kitchen. A voice chimed at her, catching her attention over her mission to retrieve her caffeine fix. "Ah, good morning sunshine," said Vince, as he sat on an old beat-up sofa, and he was drinking a big cup of coffee. Veronica approached him and sat down next to him, a sigh escaping her. She had a headache, most likely from dehydration. "You must be Vince." She said, not asking, just stating it aloud. "You'd be right." He replied, taking a sip from his cup. "Um, where are we?" She questioned, licking her dry cracked lips and zooming in on his cup that was calling to her.

Vince was a cutie, no doubt about that; she definitely wouldn't be his type, Veronica wasn't anyone's type. He was in good shape, thin with some muscle, and tall. Dark boyish hair, tattoos, and piercings. She would eat him alive, better to keep those thoughts to herself. Where did Jose know this guy from? she thought to herself.

Minutes later her daydreaming was interrupted with his reply. "We are in your new place. This is your... let us just say, your hideout spot." He explained. "You need to keep a low profile." Veronica's expression turned to excitement and also disbelief. "Really? Holy fvck man. Where in the hell is this place in the world?" She asked, her eyes getting big in all wonder. "Compton, California." He said holding in a laugh and again sipping his coffee. Her eyes turned into sarcastic slits, and she blinked rapidly at him. "Seriously?" She questioned, monotone. "Ha, yeah... trust me, it's the perfect spot for someone like you. Take what you can get girl." He informed, and it was true, he was right, she had no right to be picky about anything. In fact, she was in debt to him, and to Jose. However, she would never forgive herself for leaving Ian behind.
❝I'm just a psychotic girl and I won't get lost in your world.❞
