Welcome to my wonderland

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”― Lewis Carroll

fb. it wasn't real

flashback: childhood hallucinations

"But, I don't see anything. Mama, um...there isn't anything there." he spoke, fear in his voice as he clutched his mother's hand tightly. Comfort there, by his mothers' side. She would protect him, she would protect both of them. "Hush now Jared, don't you say another word, don't make a sound. We mustn't disturb her when she is like this. You..."  her words trailed into silence; looking down into the young boys' bourbon hues--scared and confused.

Would she be alright he wondered; he never knew, every time, he wasn't sure. "She will be alright, we just have to be patient." his mother offered a forced smile, paper petals, trembling with the torture of the unknown. "Just hold onto me Jared, whatever happens... do not let go." she instructed, gentle breath. He nodded slowly up to his mother, small arms reaching around her leg, squeezing ahold tightly. Now they watch... now they wait.
[telepathy]
"Hi... you came back, my friend. What have you brought me this time?" young Veronica asked with innocence, precious buds expressing happiness.  "I have something better than before." the creature before the little girl had a small gift. Small to his existence, though large to hers.

Slender grayish extension, long digits spread. Veronica held her Teddy tightly in one arm and raised the other, left palm, cold and clammy, quivering touch. Pressed to the others. Jolts instantly spread, traveling along the roads of her nervous system. Reaching her mainframe, power grid, the hive. Implanting software, infusing the codes, instructions, manuals of chaos, and machine formations.

"No!" Veronica screamed, windblown hair, black clouds forming, a storm brewing. Tornado sirens ringing in the distance. "I won't!" she said, snarl formed buds; rain falling. Anger-filled orbs, turning onyx with rage, though, unable to pull away.

"I'm scared." Jared cried to his mother, digging his nails into her exposed thigh.

Electric volts shot from the little girl's hand as she made contact with her 'friends' mitten. "I don't want it, and I won't do it." spoken sternly from the young lamb. Unafraid, strong, and forceful, would never cave. "You'll be sorry." warned--zapped. The child's body flew back and landed in the mud. Smoke rising from dark locks. Veronica laid motionless, the stench of burnt hair and flesh circle her unconscious frame.

"Oh my god... Veronica, honey wake up." cried their mother. Shaking the lifeless doll, teddy, face down in the mud beside her. "Is she dead?" asked her brother Jared. "Back away... get back." she screamed, droplets of the tears of the world fell upon a porcelain face. Lashes fluttering, heart pumping, twitching, convulsing.

She cries...

"Oh thank goodness...Veronica, my baby girl." traumatized. Burnt dress, bloodshot whites. Bloody nose. "I said no mommy, I said no." Veronica muttered barely audible. "Sweetie, who...what? What are you talking about? There was nothing there, it wasn't real." her mother assured, again and again. "Are... are you sure?" she questioned, uncertainty.

"Yes, I promise."
