Activity Check (11.13.16)
Thanksgiving was something that wasn't very usual to celebrate within Prague. It was more of an American tradition, but after a while, the Czech Republic didn't take long to carry on the tradition overseas. Everette was raised around the American tradition within his Czech household, possibly the only American tradition available to him for quite some time.
Memories flood Everette every Thanksgiving as it passes. Memories of his mother cooking, his father drinking, and himself setting the table. The smells roaming around the old household as his mother cooked, smelling so good that it would rumble your tummy in less than a second of it touching your nose. There were bad Thanksgivings.. Consisting of his father getting so drunk that he beat his mother worse than what he would sober. Then there were good Thanksgivings.. Ones that consisted of his parents getting along, having a great dinner without a threat of bruises or scrapes put upon his mother. Most Thanksgiving celebrations, Everette chooses not to remember. Too hurt to remember the icy blue hues of his mother, which instantly reverted to the memory of her death right in front of his eyes. He was and would possibly always be in a dark place due to his parents deaths. Revenge filling his emerald hues, anger filling his soul.
Thanksgiving was a tradition to avoid, once he moved to the states. He worked both his jobs religiously that day. Not having anything to be thankful for, not having a family to carry on the tradition with. Though, how could he? It would just remind him of the past and shut him down. He'd keep regular hours going for the Union Garage, working himself half to death, sometimes even literally due to his second job. It wasn't until here recently, that his emerald hues actually opened to reality rather than the past. Everette used to have nothing to me thankful for. He wouldn't have been able to list you one simple thing he was thankful for. He hated everything, everyone, himself, he hated it all. Though now that Harlow and Rachel are in his life..it turned completely full circle. He found what he should be thankful for, what he should love rather than hate. He was like the Hulk, yet somehow, someone like Harlow and Rachel could make the male so soft hearted, so filled with love and joy. Those emotions, they were something he hadn't felt in a long time, something that he realized he was thankful for. Thankful that someone was actually there, that someone actually cared and loved him and wanted to make him happy.
Though the two are the main focus upon his recovery to accepting Thanksgiving again. He also created friends and foes...with many others. Though they were one or the other, he was still thankful for them. Thankful for the joy or annoyance they would bring him. It's weird..or odd. But it is something that drew Everette's emerald hues open and realized that, even within the past and present, there is so much to be thankful for. So much that remain unseen and hidden, but should receive thanks on a daily.
