The Devil saves the Lamb

A starter for Runnin's with the Devil

It was a normal sunny day in San Diego. The light wind blowing in the air relieves some coolness. The solar sun beaming onto every building, place, person, and everything coming across to it. The time is nine in the morning with Lilith was only a few blocks away from getting a cheap coffee and a breakfast burrito from a 7-11 Store. The blonde woman has her breakfast in one hand and another hand fumbling getting the keys from her small purse. She tosses them grabbing the main key, unlocking it as she lets herself in then getting inside.

Lilith casually walks throughout the store with her burrito in her hands making sure everything was of good standards. There were a few books that were out of place but uses her free right hand to put a few books in the correct author and genre section. Her brow orbs scanning every bookshelf from every section of the room, everything on the walls were exactly in order. Retro movie posters from the 1940s through now. Posters of bands, such as The Runaways, Journey, The Beetles, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Rush, The Who, and many more.

The blonde woman finishes her cup of coffee and tossing it to the trash bin beside the cash registers. She breathes out not knowing what kind of day she’ll have today; bad, good, or okay. Lilith does a couple of breathing exercises to keep her calm. It’s a technique she’s been going through since she was in therapy. Her right fingers travel to her left wrist and pulling on something rubber. Three rubber bands kept Lili from harming herself for the third time.

“Everything alright, Lil?” A female with half-shaved hair looked at her friend.

The blonde woman blinked getting back to reality and turning to see her co-worker, Jamie. “Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” She answered nodding her head. “It’s all good, thank you, Jamie,” Lilith responded with a small smile.

“Shall we get the ball rolling of getting this place open?” Susie, Rawlins Bookstore Manager said in a cheerful manner walking towards the front door unlocking it, and turning the Closed side turning to the Open side.

Throughout the day…

“Come back, see ya soon,” Lili replied with a small smile and nodded her head to a male customer seeing him smiling leaving the register. The blonde sighed as she leaned forward at the wooden countertop.

A bell rings when the door opens. A handsome young man with dirty blonde hair that could be mistaken as brown. His locks were wavy that went well with his strong jawline. His dark brown eyes look around the store looking at his next victim. His next prey. His haunting brown eyes scan around the room with his boots giving a hard thud to every move he makes. Ebony sunglasses hide for the excitement to see who his next prey could be, his artwork to display for everyone in California and around the world to see. He looks in one direction by the cash register. A blonde woman with long locks. The man takes off his sunglasses and viewing something that caught his attention.

Lilith looked around to see if everyone was alright and her eyes stop to have eye contact with someone. Her chocolate brown eyes hues were connected to a darker set of brown eyes. The connection between the two was strong for what lasted for a while but the handsome man nodded his head towards her. He puts back on his sunglasses and leaving the store.

“Who is he?” Lili asked herself in a low voice.

Ten o’clock at night

The blonde woman was escorted out from Rawlins and started walking to the nearest bus station to catch a ride that was near her apartment. Lilith took a seat to the second right as she plays with the rubber bands on her left wrist. She gazes through the plastic window with her mind wandering off until her stop was next. A few stops later, the blonde woman gets up from the bus with her right hand holding onto the strap to her purse. She makes her way to her apartment complex and getting the keys from her person.

Within hiding in the shadow, there was a man all dressed in black, black hoodie, long sleeve shirt, pants, and boots. His eyes set on his prey slowly moving in behind her. The unknown assailant aggressively puts his hand over her mouth hearing her scream, “SHUT UP BITCH!” He threatens her to spin her around and forcing her to the ground.

Lilith was completely thrown off guard as she screams being held against her will. Her mind was on high alert and scared to death. The blonde was forced to turn around and being shoved into the ground. She kept scream and kicking hoping for someone to save her from being raped.

“Shut up Bitch, you’re going to get it!” The male assailant yelled as he slapped her hard. He kept one hand on her mouth and another hand reaching to the down of his pants unzipping it as he was about to perform sexual intercourse without the woman’s consent.

She kept crying and screaming with her mouth being covered feeling helpless, useless.

Dear Brother

San Diego Cemetery
June 29, 20XX

A twenty-seven-year-old blonde dressed in black, sunglasses, hat, dress, purse, and ankle-high heel boots. Her hair blows in the dry air of the summer heat. Her eyes are forward as she walks through a place that became oddly at peace. Lilith held a bouquet of deep red roses in her hand as she aimlessly seeks to her destination, the grave to her older brother. The blonde stops in her tracks and slowly getting on her knees. She reaches over putting the bouquet in front of the tombstone. Lili takes off her sunglasses with tears rimming down her eyes and looking at the engraving on the cement grave mark.

Beloved Son and Brother

Forever missed in our hearts.

“Hey Big bro, it’s me. Lil,” She spoke in a small broken tone of voice and wiping her eyes. “Sorry for not visiting you two weeks ago, something happened to me.” She said as if she was talking to her best friend in person. Lilith looks around her surroundings seeing there was no one around than facing the tombstone. “I was nearly raped until someone saved me. He killed my attacker and thanked him for helping me out. He’s cute.” Lili stated a fact with a smirk rosing her to lips. “I offered him something to drink and some Mary Jane as a reward. You know what’s funny, Dan? I actually saw him at Rawlins Bookstore. He came in while I was working. We locked eyes and there was a connection for that one moment.” She honestly spoke with her right hand to the right side of her hair tucking it behind her ear. “His name is Wesley, Wes for short. Don’t know how you would feel about his hobby though.” Lilith shrugged her shoulders and crossed her legs with her hands on the ankle of her boots. “Mom and Dad, have asked me to visit them; to see if I have been cutting myself. I haven’t in about three months. There are days where I slip to either cut, drink, or do drugs to get away from what I’m doing.” The blonde updated him on what’s been going on with her and what’s she’s been doing to feel ‘relaxed’ in order not to end my life.

Lilith rolls over to the left side of the tombstone and places her hat over her head. She does her breathing exercises for a couple of seconds. The blonde uses her right hand to tip her hat over. Lili felt she felt at peace being close to her brother even though he's not here physically but spiritually.

"I'll let you know how everything goes with Wes; if it'll be short-term or longer. This is only the beginning. Dear Brother, you've missed out so much while you were away; it's been a crazy f***ed up world since you were gone." Lili tells the truth putting her hand out blinding out the sun's solar beam.
