Biography and Background

Jin Sakai was no longer, with his new set of skills and knowledge he had picked up while fighting the Mongols occupying Tsushima, an honorable samurai. He has broken every principle and it had not led to the duel between himself and his Uncle, Lord Shimura, but that the shogun himself had turned the clan Sakai to dust.

But if it wasn’t for Yuna he wouldn’t have survived and in order to break the Mongols hold there was no other choice. His reputation had been growing and soon he was known as the Ghost. It was however a long way to finally being able to defeat Khotun Khan. Their first encounter had resulted in him being thrown off the wooden bridge to the occupied Castle Kaneda. But it wasn’t over yet.

Not long after he caught wind of something going on at his ancestral home on Iki Island. Jin had lost his father there and it was the reason for his uncle Lord Shimura to adopt him. Being captured by a Mongol Khotun nicknamed the Eagle Jin was fighting against the drug he had been given. It was a trial but he finally succeeded in defeating not only the Eagle but the drug itself.

AU Version

His life would have ended, just like old Yuriko had died of old age, if it weren’t for something that happened. People on the island of Tsushima and Iki had always believed in demons and supernatural power, but it was something Jin Sakai had dismissed. His nickname was the Ghost and it was just when everything seemed to settle down after driving the Mongols away that Jin Sakai stumbled across a storyteller. It was a vivid tale and it sparked his interest in learning the truth, or rather to see that it wasn’t.

Apparently there was the village Oma, the ancestral home of the once proud Clan Sakai, which had been disbanded after Jin had turned down to become adopted by his Uncle, Lord Shimura. The courtyard greeting him was littered with bodies from the pheasants who had made it their home. Upon investigating the corpses, a grim look on his features, Jin found the undeniable puncture wounds in their necks. It was when he was just about to get up to a stand when something or someone knocked him down.

Whoever it was must been strong, since he was wearing the Sakai Clan armor. So it was a surprise that his assailant was a slender woman. Before Jin had time to react the female opened her mouth, revealing two sharp fangs in her upper jaw, and it was the last thing the Ghost remembered before everything turned black. When he later woke up he had this odd craving he couldn’t put his finger on, until his brown hues went to a dead figure lying beside him, and it definitely wasn’t there before.

Feeling something snap as got up to a wobbly stand he staggered towards the body and kneeling he lifted it up, sinking his teeth into the neck. The taste of blood was savory and not disgusting as it should have been if Jin had still been a human. Once fed it was obvious that he was a danger to those he called friends, and learning that he was drinking blood, they would certainly regard him as a monster. As years went by Jin became aware that he had stopped aging.

The thought of tracking down this demonic creature that had done this to him was growing for each passing day. The need for blood on regular basis made him forget who his friends was and Jin didn’t want to risk their lives to sate his thirst. So he made the decision to leave Japan, and feed on animals instead of humans, while hoping to find the one who had turned him and learn what sort of creature it was.

Years turned into decades and centuries. The world changed with it, and it was in the 16th Century which Jin stumbled across the term Vampire. And then a long list of other supernatural creatures followed, like werewolves, banshee, witches and rusalka, which was an unmarried woman that had been drowned by her loved one. Bent on finding his maker or sire, as the name was when it came to vampire, the progeny Jin had found his way to a place called USA and it was where he picked up the trail.
