The End...

Thunder drowned the sounds of the battle like a crack of a whip. The divinity of the clashing angels caused lightning to strike dangerously around them. Just a little longer and his people would be able to escape. He didn't want to be here fighting his sister. He didn't want to be fighting period. It was the reason he left hell in the first place. How could he have known that him leaving would cause the second Rebellion in heaven and that this rebellion would spill into an all-out war with hell on to Earth?

"You should have never left me!" Asmodel screamed furiously lashing out with her blade. She was a great warrior his sister. Many believed she was made in Michael's image. They were close. He had taken her under his wing and trained her as one of his most fierce commanders. She had believed in him as no other being had. All she had wanted was to be at his side. When Michael left something dark had grown in her. It was the same envy that had tainted Samael.

Wanting revenge and to prove her might to her mentor she staged a rebellion in heaven. Not even Raphael had been able to keep her from bringing the war to Earth. At the same time, Asmodel had conquered heaven a demon named Neron had conquered hell. Now Asmodel waged war with Neron over the domain of Earth. Humanity had been caught in the middle. Instead of choosing to fight with the angels like he always had he chose to fight with the humans.

"I never left you! You lost your faith!" Michael shouted back finally disarming her. She was a great warrior, but he was better. He would always be better. It was the way their Father had made it. She laughed when she realized she had been defeated. "Go ahead, Michael. End it. I'd rather die than be cast into the unknown like you did Lucifer."

Michael closed his eyes feeling a portion of his power leaving him. Using his divinity Elaine had completed her spell and teleported the human resistance out of harm's way.  He smiled proud of his daughter. He looked down at Asmodel and threw his sword into the ground. "I will not give up on another Angel." He said to her drained. "You would give up on us all for them. Your precious humans." She said with disdain in her voice. "You could never have loved me as you loved them. You are just like Father. I wonder is this what he felt? Samael when you abandoned him."

The mention of his twin cut deeper than any physical wound. "Perhaps," Michael answered. "Still I imagine it was a great deal less painful than what I felt when he betrayed our family!" He thought to give in to his rage for a moment. To pick up the flaming sword and end her. Then he felt Elaine's soothing presence. "Dad! We did it! They're safe!" She shouted running towards them. Michael turned to her. There was a bright smile on his daughter's face. She had never doubted he would win.

The smile on her face slowly disappeared replaced by one of immense pain. "Nooo!" He heard her scream. He looked down to see the source of her distress, the flaming sword now stuck in his gut. Asmodel had been strong enough to lift it? He looked back at his sister. She was as stunned as he. When Asmodel removed the blade Michael fell to his knees. "You should have chosen me." She said tears streaming down her cheeks. The Angel Queen lifted the flaming sword, but before she could bring it down Elaine had reached her Father and teleported them away.

"I need help!" He heard his daughter scream when he came to. "That's an angel! You can come in when you leave him." A male voice shouted back. "This isn't just an Angel! This is the Archangel Michael! He's on our side!" She argued. "Elaine.." Michael mumbled trying to get up. "Do as he says." The battle had left his winger tattered and he could barely move. Elaine went to her Father then attempted to lift him. "I'm not leaving you." She said stubbornly.

"I can not fight. I can not protect you. Asmodel will send out all her forces to find me now that she knows I'm wounded. You can not be with me when she finds me." He didn't expect her to understand, but she was special. The only human who could use Angelic magic. Michael had taken a chapter out of Brother's book. He had created Elaine, in the same manner, Lucifer had created witches. He had taught her to draw on his Divinity to fight against the forces of hell and heaven.

Elaine let him go then fell to her knees assuming a position of prayer. "What are you doing?" Michael asked. "I'm calling Amanediel." She said. "He will not hear you." He argued. "Then I will call Uncle Gabriel!" Michael reached out then grabbed her by the arm. "You can't! The other Angels will hear you! Elaine please you have to leave me. I will find my way." She looked at him a moment. He could see she was finally starting to see reason.

"Then I'll call him." She taking a dagger from her bag then cutting her hand.

My Brother's keeper.

This was becoming sinister in nature. A wealthy philanthropist by the name of Chris Belloc had reached out to Pax for help. He hired Michael and his team to negotiate the return of his newborn baby. His wife and mother of the child, Alice had taken their daughter shortly after returning home from the hospital. Mr. Belloc believed his wife sought enough money to leave him. That she suffered from postpartum depression, but the more Michael learned of this women the more he was convinced her motives were far Sinister.

He stood in the middle of Thorpe's living room as his team tried to get Alice back on the phone. Clenched in his hand was Alice's journal. A journal he found in a secret compartment of her room. In the journal, Alice described joining a cult. One that worshipped his Brother and sought to bring about the end of the world. His team passed it off as the ranting of a mad woman, but Michael knew better. The journal contained many demonic symbols. The woman was clearly a witch.

An evil creation of his Brother.'s The presence of witches had come about when Lucifer had given mortal women a way to tap into his power. It was his attempt to prove to their Father humanity was a failure and needed to be destroyed. Lucifer believed if given power humanity would always use it for personal gain. His plan failed when Michael convinced their Father that it was Lucifer's power that had corrupted the nature of these women, not their humanity.

Still, these women had willingly given in to darkness and could not be allowed entrance into the Silver City. Any woman who took the power of witchcraft automatically damned her soul in the process.

"We got her back, Michael," Regina said bringing Alice back on the screen. The Witch had hung up on them when Michael attempted to change her desire to a more peaceful one. "We want you, Michael. Your life for the baby. You are her protector, aren't you? I will send you directions to our location. It would be in everyone's best interest if you came alone." As soon as she was done speaking she hung up. Mr. Belloc immediately looked at Michael. "How does she know you?" He asked. "That's a good question. She obviously has friends in very low places." Michael replied.

This was a trap, but he had no choice but to go along with Witch's demand. "Mr. Belloc your wife is a witch. She's been brainwashed by evil into believing my Brother is some sort of herald of freedom. She has every intention of killing your baby no matter what I do." Michael said bluntly. "Mike I know your religious, but this isn't the time for your metaphorical bullsh*t." Regina sighed frustrated. "I have never lied to you." He responded to her hurt.

"I don't understand. But why? Why would she kill her own baby? This is insane." The man began to sob. "It's not a baby to her. It's just a weapon to hurt me. She intends to use the greatest gift God gave her to commit an offense against him." Michael didn't have time to explain this to him. "But she said she would give me Elaine back if you trade yourself. You can save her." He was a father. He could never accept the death of his child. "I promise you I will." He replied then headed for the door Regina followed closely behind him. "Mike I don't get it. Why kidnap a baby to hurt you? How do you know this woman?" She asked when they got to the exit.

"Because what she intends to do to the baby will hurt me greater than any mortal or celestial weapon could. I don't know her, but I imagine I know the demon pulling her strings very well. This case isn't our normal gig. I need to go alone. " Michael could tell she didn't want to hear that. "If you want to help me I need you to look after Pax while I'm in Las Angelus. I will need to go there as soon as I retrieve the baby. I will explain everything once I know everyone's safe."

As soon as he closed the door behind him he unleashed his wings then took to the sky. He didn't need the address provided to him all he had to do was go where hell smelt the strongest. It was a warehouse in the middle of nowhere. It had only taken him a few moments to get there by flight.

Michael crashed through the roof. It surprised the mortals long enough for Michael to strike first. "You know who I am right? Did you really think I'd use the front door?" They've betrayed their brethren he told himself to give himself the resolve to hurt these humans. Michael had spent millennia without having to resort to violence. This was his punishment for not returning Lucifer to hell. He would make sure to correct that mistake when he was done here.

As soon as he had landed he had determined that at least three of the ten humans in the room were in fact demons. He struck the most powerful of them first a palm to the chest sent the creature flying through the wall. When the humans in the room charged at him he sent them back with a flap of his wings. This would have been over within a second had he his sword. The last two demons were strong enough to withstand the force of his wings. They charged him each holding a celestial blade. Michael dodged the first's attack. He then grabbed its arm then turned its blade against him burying it inside the creature's chest.

Michael then took the blade and threw it into the last demon. The sound of a baby crying caused him to stand still. He turned to see Alice holding Elaine, a knife held to her throat. "Do it. Signal the end. He's here on Earth. You're here. What are you waiting for." Michael slowly began to release the Demiurge inside of him. "That's actually Gabriel's thing. He's the one with the horn." Slowly the power of the Demiurge began to overwhelm the human. As soon as Michael was in arm's reach Alice collapsed. The Angel swiftly grabbed the baby from her arms.

As Elaine began to coo peacefully in his arms he looked down at her mother. She was still human, but barely. He couldn't hurt her, but he couldn't leave her free either. He decided to call the police. He would have to trust the authorities could hold her and her coven at least until he could figure out a more permanent method to contain her. The demons, however, had to be killed.

Michael walked over to the demon he had sent through the wall. It was still alive. It was indeed strong. "Why? You had all of hell with no King to rule over you. Why did you have to come to Earth? Lucifer and I had put an end to the meaningless war." He bent down as the demon laughed. "The war will never end. If Lucifer will not lead us we will find another. We are humanity's end." As the demon spoke Michael reached down with one hand and took it by the throat. He let his divinity overwhelm the demon until it was no more.

"I didn't want this," Michael said before the creature completely deteriorated. A part of him wished he could have simply flown it back to hell. Maybe cause it looked so much like a human. But hells gates were open and any demon returned would only crawl out again. The brief peace between heaven and hell was now over. There was only one being who could possibly restore it.

Michael cradled Elaine. He tried to memorize the babies features to give him some resolve. "When I cast my Brother, Samael into hell it felt like I ripped out a part of myself." He told the baby. "Nothing since the beginning of time as ever caused me such pain. And now it seems I may have to do it again. If you ever come to a point in your life where you want to harm another human remember this is how much I love you and your kind. Remember this is what I have sacrificed for you and stay your hand."

Lux was exactly how he remembered it on the outside. He had only seen it once when he had helped create it. This would be his first time ever going inside. He couldn't help but smile at the sight. It was definitely his brother. The decor was impressive. His brother had good taste he had to give him that. It was nice seeing what Lucifer had done with something the had created together.

Michael made his way through the crowd. He watched the humans dance closely. They were uninhibited. The root of all human's desire was freedom. He supposed here his brother gave them a taste of what true freedom was like. He could feel Lucifer's presence but could not see him. His essence was intoxicating and his will was overwhelming. All angels were desirable to God's creatures. But Lucifer's presence was so intense it could be crippling.

The Archangel sat at the piano in the center of the club then began to play hoping to lure his Brother out peacefully. They had often sung as children. Samael had the loveliest voice second only to Gabriel. He couldn't remember the last time he had sung. A song had come to mind as he played and he began to see it.

Brother, why'd you have to go? You left us all so soon. Remember that song I wrote about your family years ago. Well, they're waiting for you to come home. What do I do? What do I say? And dad tells me to pray. So I prayed and prayed but the hurt won't go away. The pain gets worse, it never stops. And I've asked the Lord for us to swap

Lucifer Intro

George Barnes, a lost soul struggling to find his place in this world. All his life he had been following in the footsteps of others. Recently he had been thrown away by those he devoted to himself to. Michael's heart bled for the human. He wanted nothing more than to save this man. George stood before him with a gun placed to the head of the man who had dishonorably discharged him from the military. "Killing him will not bring you justice, George. It will only end what little chance you have at finding peace." Michael looked into the distraught man in the eyes. "You don't want to kill anyone. You want to find your place."

That was it. He had done it. He had convinced George that he didn't want to kill anyone.  "Put the gun down, surrender, then go find your place." As soon as the words left his mouth the man did as he was told. It was one of his divine gifts. Michael had the power to command others to act on their desires. He called it the power of resolve. Still, there was no way Michael could know their desire. That ability belonged to his twin. The Archangel simply had to rely on persuasion and intuition to discover what lay inside a mortal's heart.

"How do you do it?" His second Regina asked. "You can talk anyone into surrendering." She followed him as he made his way back from the crime scene. "Not everyone. My Brother isn't even capable of comprehending the word surrender." Why was he thinking about Lucifer? It was strange. They had come to an understanding that they would give each other space and not interfere in the other's business. Something about the human he had just saved reminded him of his Brother. Lucifer had clearly felt abandoned by their father. Ever since their last encounter, Michael had begun to wonder if he had done everything he could to save his twin from his fate?

Lucifer had been his only true failure. The only being he could not save. Thinking about his brother had always driven him to human emotions. So in times like this, he took to human ways to deal with them. Michael went to the ballet that night. New York had some of the best companies. Watching the dancers perform Black Swan had made him feel worse however. So he took two of the dancers home and tried to bury his emotions in a more physical way.

After his ladies had passed out on him he got up then went to his living room to pour himself a glass of wine. There was a brief flutter in the moonlight. A strange sense of humanity and divinity was in the air and it caused Michael to unleash his wings in defense. "A little jumpy aren't we." The voice was as familiar as the presence. Michael lowered his wings then looked at his brother. "What has happened to you, Amenandiel?" When the man emerged from the shadows Michael barely recognized him. "I've lost my wings," Amenandiel answered.

Despair clearly clung to his elder Brother. "You're human. There are worse things you can be." Michael poured another glass of wine then handed it to Amenandiel. "Why are you here? If it's to ask me to speak to Father on your behalf save it. He doesn't listen to me like he used to. How did you even know I was here?"  Michael asked then took a sip of his wine. "I'm not here for me. Father has his reasons for what he's done. I'm here for Luci. I can't watch him anymore." Michael finished his wine as Amenandiel spoke.

This was the reason he had been thinking of his brother so much lately. "No. I am done with Lucifer. He hates me more than he hates you probably more than father even. Anytime he and I are together he does everything in his power to try and hurt me." Michael turned from his Brother determined to leave it at that. "You're his twin, Michael. You were the Brother he was closest too. The one who understood him best and you chose Father." Amenandiel's words hurt like knives. "I never had a choice! Lucifer had a choice and he did what he has always done. He chose himself." Michael shouted.

Amenandiel said nothing he instead looked around Michael's penthouse. "Looks a lot like his." Michael ignored his brother's comment. "Pretty ladies." Amenandiel pointed out when looking into Michael's bedroom. "Stop. We're not the same." Michael sighed pouring another glass. "You're more alike than just the obvious," Amenandiel argued.  "The blonde is Elizabeth. She's the prima ballerina. The brunette is Jane. She's Elizabeth's rival and also her fiance. I'm trying to convince Jane she wants Elizabeth more than her title. You see they're nothing to Luci. Just objects. I love them. The only thing Lucifer and I have in common is we appreciate beauty."

Michael was the first to kneel to Adam when commanded. Nothing was more beautiful to him than humanity. Hope didn't exist until their creation. Good and evil hadn't existed before the creation either. They were the catalyst to him losing his other half still he loved them. "You and I both know Lucifer had to be their punisher and I their protector. We had to be the ones to separate the evil from the good. I know it's not the roles we wanted..." Michael set the wine aside then sat down on the sofa. "Maybe that's why I'm here. I don't want to play my part anymore either. At least not the way Father wants me to."

Amenandiel went to his brother then sat beside him. "I gathered as much when I figured out you left heaven the same time he left hell. This, your firm Pax, his nightclub Lux, none of it could have existed without the two of you." Michael didn't bother to deny it. "He wanted out and I was tired of fighting him. So we came to an arrangement. We'd stay on the opposite ends of the world. He would do his thing and I would do mine. I formed Lux and Pax and he willed them into existence. So far the world has continued on."

At birth, Michael and Lucifer had been giving the ability to create, but only when together. Michael was given the power of the Demiurge and Lucifer the power of infinite will. Useless when sperate but together they were the most powerful beings in the universe second only to their Father. "How long do you think that will last? Michael, you know using your powers will have consequences. You're supposed to be the reasonable brother" Amanendiel argued. "I am the reasonable Brother. From what I hear Lucifer is actually happy and helping people. I will gladly take credit in giving him that."

"If you are the reasonable brother come back with me to LA. Look after Luci. I'm human now I can't promise I will be around much longer to make sure he stays out of trouble. And you are the only one I trust who can keep him in line." Michael's heart sank when his Brother alluded to his humanity. "You believe you could actually die?" Michael asked. The thought of losing a brother was unbearable. "I don't know. Maybe." Amenandiel shrugged.

"I'll go to LA. I will see Lucifer, but only for you. I will make your wings and Lucifer will give them form. Then there will be no need for me to take your place."
