Modern Villain synopsis.

A positive precursor before the FAILED Copy.

   Character Example. Darth Vader.
Basically a quintessential movie villain. George Lucas played every movie trick to make you fear the guy. From the first moment he strives into a scene, surrounded by dead bodies, you know he's not to be f***ed with. Huge and powerful. Wears all black. His face is disguised behind an inhuman mask, giving his looks mystery. A deep booming voice. That radiated power and menace. He can even toss people like toys.

Physically, big and intimidating, but also intelligent and ruthlessly efficient. Making smart logical decisions based on the information at hand. And almost never loses his cool. He uses his power (the Force) to punish subordinates who fail or disrespect him, but it is never done out of anger or malice. He's either proving a point to those who doubt his power or those removing ineffective commanders who endangered the success of his mission/objectives. When he acts it is in service of his ultimate goal. Never because he lost control of himself.

The overall effect created a villain that resonated with a vibe of "f*** around and find out".A man who dominates every situation and person he is confronted with right up until his end when the hero inevitably overpowers him.  But even in that moment of loss, he accomplished his goal. (To provoke Lukes's Rage and anger) The point is with archetype analysis is that George Lucus created a villain who was smart, powerful, dominant, ruthless, and interesting, A character that maintains his era of danger and menace. almost until his final moments where he redeems himself and saves his son at the cost of his own life.

Then compare that to Kylo Ren.
Rip off city. They both wear black armor and masks. Arrive in an already underway battle. They use a red lightsaber. They are both strong with the force. For the first few moments of his appearance, things are going well for him. Exits ship. Kill a seemingly important old guy. Stops a blaster bolt in mid-air. (Vader didn't even do that) Then it all goes wrong. When he interrogates Poe. "Who talks first? Do you talk first? Can't understand you with the mask."   What the f*** is that? You paralleled Vader right up to the first moment it matters and had his opening dialogue be a snarky conversation that basically goes unchallenged. The script is ultimately undermining him every moment after this.

Then it gets worse. Vader was cold and efficient. Kulo frequently loses his temper and lashes out in childish rage. Makes dumb, illogical command decisions. Persues his mission in the least efficient ways possible. Then brutally punishes people for asking PERFECTLY logical questions. In fact, the only reason he catches up to Rey and the bunch is because EVERYBODY is portrayed as a snitch. He constantly takes off the mask to break the mystery of what's underneath it. He is openly conflicted about what he wants to accomplish. Hesitating in crucial moments and brooding over the choices. Worse of all, he ALWAYS LOSES against the hero.  Fails a mind probe! Gets his ass kicked and survives by bullsh*t luck.

From that moment on Kylo Ren as a villain is destroyed. He is basically weaker than the hero from the start. Nothing for the Hero to strive against or overcome. His projected impression is that he is a weak, conflicted, immature man-child. Desperate to pretend to be something he isn't. Exploding with childish displays of emotion whenever things don't go his way. And unable to commit to a course of action. A man who can't master himself, let alone those around him. A man who consistently loses every time he tests himself against the hero. A villain with No teeth
But they had Snoke... (dead in the first hero face-off)
I meant Hux. He started out pretty ruthless. (Oh... Yeah)
Aso inpet.   Hum. No wonder the New Star Wars trilogy was............................. YEAH.

Just an examination that turned into a rant. . .
