Escape From INSANITY - Justice for All
Current mood:  overstimulated

Allen was no longer a threat in anyway.  He had faced fear in all forms.  He had tried to talk down the deranged psycho for days.  He had stayed strong through so much of it.  But now, he was fading.  His left hand had been mangled, days ago, it was starting to heal on it's own all twisted and deformed.  It had never even been iced after the sledge hammer had pounded it twice!  He had been through mental torment from the start.  Scarlett had made him believe so many lies!  And once she started to drug him his mind couldn't find the holes in her stories.  What was really taking him down though was the tattoo she had put on his leg.  It was infected and that infection was giving him a fever, and was spreading through him like wildfire.  He would not last much longer. Scarlett was oblivious to just how sick Allen was.  She couldn't see it, and even if she could she wouldn't get him real help in the form of a doctor.  She wouldn't sacrifice herself nor would she give up on having her fantasy now that it was in her grasp....  Allen laid on the bed, dizzy, feverish, and unable to truly understand everything happening.  There was one thing he did know.  He had been tricked into Scarlett's game, he had f***ed her for days under the guise of her pretending to be his wife, and he too drugged to see the truth.  She wanted his baby, and it was very likely that she was pregnant...

"Allen? Sweetheart, wake up." The soft words were followed by a kiss to his cheek. The night before went better than Layla ever could've expected. She convinced herself that Allen was going to make her leave after the first kiss...but by the end of the night, he was begging her to stay with him. Layla knew damn well she was taking advantage of Allen's vulnerability but that didn't bother her as long as she got what she wanted in the end...and that was to break him and his wife up so she could have that man all to herself.

His hand was still between her legs when she woke up and her arms were wrapped around him. If his wife happened to come home and walk in on them, there would've been a huge fight. That was something Layla was actually looking forward to. Unfortunately, Ryleigh never came home. She was probably fucking around with more random men she met. With all of Allen's cheating accusations towards his wife, Layla was convinced that woman was a whore. He didn't deserve that. He also didn't deserve what Layla was going to be putting him through...but that was a completely different story.

Before he woke up, she reached over and grabbed his phone off the table. She knew he sent a couple of texts to his wife and she wanted to see if there were any replies. Nothing. A smirk appeared on her face and she carefully and quietly set the phone back down. This was all working in her favor. Today, was going to be the breaking point. If his wife never showed up, Layla had even more of an advantage. She'd be there for him when he needed the support the most. He'd also be broken when he realized Ryleigh wasn't going to show....and Layla was prepared to pick up all of those pieces.

Her mouth found his lips before she sat up. "I'm going to run out and pick up some coffee, okay? Then I'll be right back...and we can head off to court together." With that said, she made her way over to the door, slipped on her shoes and headed right out the door. She wouldn't be gone long. There was a little convenient store right down the block.

No more than ten minutes later, Layla was walking back through the door with a cup of hot coffee in each hand and a small brown bag tucked underneath her arm. "Allen?" He wasn't on the couch anymore. What if Ryleigh ended up coming back while she was out? Fuck! No, she shook that thought right out of her head, there was still only one car in the driveway. Making her way back over to the couch, she set the coffees down and pulled out two donuts from the bag. "Allen, baby, I bought you some breakfast!"

Today was an important day for Allen Walker. It was the start of his trial. If everything went well, Scarlett was looking at forty years behind bars for the crimes she committed against him. Ryleigh was set to testify...

She should've been at the courthouse by now. Instead...she was laying completely naked on her rapist's couch. Her eyes were glazed over and fixed on the television screen. Only a few hours ago, her husband was tangled up in the arms of his physical therapist.

Allen's words were replaying in Ryleigh's head like a broken record.

Layla. I shouldn't tell you how I've thought about you when I'm here alone at night.

Tears welled up in her eyes and she reached up with a shaky hand to wipe them away. This wasn't how she expected their marriage to end. They were only three months into it and had a little baby girl on the way. Now, he was with another woman.

I loved the feel of your hands grabbing my arm, my hands, my waist...and I knew you didn't actually need my help, but I never said anything, cuz it felt good to be useful, it felt good to be with you. And tonight, I want to do a hellava lot more than kiss you.

Ryleigh let out a soft whimper at the thought of them going on different dates. Apparently they went skating and she didn't even know about it. This was all Noah's fault! If he wasn't constantly calling her away Allen wouldn't be forced to seek comfort in the arms of another woman.  All she could picture was that woman kissing her husband, her hands were all over him and he didn't even pull away. He wanted it and looked to be enjoying every second of the attention. Ryleigh didn't want to watch it, she begged Noah to turn the television off, but he refused. He wanted to her suffer. Sometime while he was making her watch it, she completely broke down. There was only so much a person could take! Noah, got up to make her a drink to help calm her down. It was only a cup of tea....or at least that's what she thought. She never suspected that he put anything in it.  Whatever was in there, helped numb her feelings and she was completely relaxed for the rest of the night. She hadn't slept a wink though...and now that it was morning, she was starting to feel it wear off. Her head was pounding, she felt sick to her stomach, and memories of that fucking video were haunting her. And, if all of that wasn't bad enough, she wasn't at the start of his trial! Layla was with him though! Ryleigh watched the two of them wake up together...and leave the house together. Allen looked devastated that Ryleigh never made it back home...and that broke her heart.

Slowly, she pulled herself up off the couch. She stumbled forward and it took her a couple moments to regain her balance, before making her way over toward's Noah's bedroom. "Noah...I think I'm sick.." She moved over towards his bed and laid back on it. "I need to go to the courthouse...the trial..." Reaching out, she shook his side to wake him up then caught a glimpse of her ring finger. Her engagement ring was locked up in Noah's safe now. "I need my ring...I need my husband..." her voice was slightly slurred. "My head hurts...everything hurts." She was a complete mess. Sitting up slightly, she moved closer to him and rested her head on his arm. "Help.." Funny how she was asking for help from the one person who put her in this situation.

"Do you want me to try to call her for you? Or I can get one of the doctors to do it for you. She really should be here for you..."   Allen shook his head.  “No... She knows I’m here, she knew when the surgery was, and she’ll come.” No... She wouldn’t, at least not anytime soon.  Allen really shouldn’t trust this woman that was sneaking into his life!  He was so fragile and destroyed, he was sad and the fears he had now were intense.  He tried to ignore them, he tried to be himself but he failed at every turn.  Ryleigh was never around anymore.  He drank more whiskey each day then the day before.  He was slipping slowly.  Layla seemed to be a parachute.  His fingers stayed there in her hand. He didn’t fight the sign of affection.  He could use a friend.  "Anything you need, I can get it for you.”   He only smiled at her.  He was glad to have someone there, he was thankful that she was so nice, so easy to talk to.  She was fun to be around.  And she was keeping his mind off of how fucked up it was that Ryleigh wasn’t there.

"I honestly don't have much of a life outside of work. Really though, there's nowhere else I'd rather be than here with you right now."  There was another thing they had in common.  Allen lived and breathed his job!  He never had much else either.  His one hobby had been fighting, and that was over now.  He had Ryleigh, or thought he did, she was slipping away.  And work… he missed it.  “Nowhere else?” he looked around the plain boring hospital room.  He leaned a little closer to her his voice dropped low, “You know where we are right?”  He smirked.  His hand flipped under hers as she squeezed it and now he gripped her hand back in his own.  Just wanting to show he was grateful for the company, nothing more, no matter how it might look.

Layla told him that Scarlett couldn’t hurt him anymore, he nodded.  “I know…I keep going to the prison to make sure she is still there.” He hadn’t told anyone about that.  Even Ryleigh didn’t know.  “I need to see her locked up I guess.”  His blues looked at her as she told him he had her now.  Her and his wife.  He smirked, “Yeah…well…” he was still alone.  It wasn’t like Layla could move in, and Ry was gone so often.  He made a huge mistake and told her just how often his wife was away.  He instantly regretted it when her response was that something was going on.  His eyes closed.  He really didn’t want to think that.  Even after seeing that name on her back!  Layla went on about Ryleigh, he managed to open his eyes, but everything she was saying he had already thought himself.  It hurt to hear it.  It was worse that someone else noticed it.  “Yeah…well…I guess sometimes things don’t go the way we want.” He was still holding her hand.  “Sometimes we have to suck it up, right?”  he forced a smile.  “I’ll be okay…in time.. I hear that heals.” He smiled a more real smile.

“You think we could order in food?” his brows arched.  “I’m starving…” his body realizing it hadn’t eaten since the day before.  “…It would be great to have something brought to us….” He started to smirk a little.  “…I hate to admit it; since it makes me sound like a baby, but I don’t want you to go anywhere…I don’t want to be alone.”  His head shook.  “Not even if it means food.” He chuckled.  He was joking really.  Obviously he wouldn’t force her to stay, or beg her to...  He wouldn’t have even joked like this if she hadn’t offered already to stay.   In time though all that would change.  Soon enough he would openly ask her to stay with him and not be kidding around.  In time they would get very comfortable with each other.  He would look forward to seeing her.  Her smile would make him smile.  He would start to crave her voice and her touch.  But right now, he was just enjoying a friendly face and a little company.  Still hopeful that Ryleigh would walk in at any moment.

// opps, I accidentally sent this from Ry's page, lol.

The way Layla was flirting with him was subtle, she didn't want him to pick up on it yet. As time went on, it'd grow stronger, and the two of them would hopefully grow closer to each other. Her main goal was to push his wife away and take her place. Allen shook his head when she mentioned the bakery. His wife wasn't there and they both knew that. If his wife was cheating, she really should learn how to come up with better lies. "Do you want me to try to call her for you? Or I can get one of the doctors to do it for you. She really should be here for you..."

Every time Layla touched him she was expecting him to either pull away or tell her not to do it. He only pulled away once though and that was when she tried to hug him once before. A soft smile appeared when his thumb moved up to wrap around her hand. His words only made that small gesture even better. "...we hardly know each other, but you've already become a friend." She never planned for them to get so close, so fast. It was completely unexpected. She couldn't even wait to rub all of this in Scarlett's face! Her hand gently squeezed his before she spoke, "I'm just happy you've allowed me into your life, Allen. After what you've been through, I know it's probably hard to trust people now." That was one thing she was scared about. She never thought he'd trust her enough to allow her to get close. It was a good thing she was such a good actress because there was a ruthless killer hidden behind the friendly facade. "Like I told you early on, I just wanted to help you out in any way I could. Now more than ever, I know you could use a good friend." She was the furthest thing from a good friend. This act was all about getting what she wanted....and she wanted him.  “I’ll take all the support I can get.” Her eyes lit up at his words. If he only knew what she had in store for him. He wouldn't realize it until it was too late. "Anything you need, I can get it for you."

“You’d be willing to stay? Really? I can’t ask you to do that…” Layla shook her head and held up one hand as if she was trying to stop him from saying anything else. "You didn't ask. I offered. Like I said, I have no other plans." Of course not, she made sure not to plan anything else on the day of his surgery. She planned on being there with him even if his wife was there. "...It you're sure I'm not keeping you from anything.." She flashed him a smirk, "I honestly don't have much of a life outside of work. Really though, there's nowhere else I'd rather be than here with you right now." This could've easily went either way. He could've insisted that she leave while he wanted for his wife to arrive but he didn't. He told her that he'd like it if she stayed and mentioned he hated being alone. Her fingers gave his hand another light squeeze. "All I think of is Scarlett...and...when it's quiet enough I swear I can hear her laughing. She has the creepiest laugh.." Layla knew that laugh all to well. She remembered back when Scarlett was telling her about all of the things she had done to Allen and how she laughed about it. Even after getting arrested for the torment she put that poor man through she still found it amusing. Scarlett's biggest mistake was trusting Layla. That psychopath wanted her to spy on him for her and report back to her every day. No, that wasn't going to happen. The only thing she'd be telling her would be how close they were getting. That was sure to make Scarlett jealous. "She can't hurt you anymore, Allen. You don't have to worry about being alone again. You have me...and...well....your wife...whenever she decides to make time for you." Allen went on to tell her that he was alone almost every night until two in the morning. Her mouth dropped open slightly. "...Wow. There's no way she could be at the bakery that late...all the time. There's something going on..." The more doubt he had about his wife, the better. "I don't know how a woman could leave her husband alone in a house he was taken from...especially when it hasn't even been that long since it happened! You're still healing...and she can't even making any time for you. I'm sorry to say this...but you don't deserve that kind of treatment..."

The only reason why Ryleigh was trying to cover herself up was because she didn't want him to notice she was pregnant. She was just barely showing now, her shirt covered it up perfectly. If someone didn't know that she was expecting, they might not even be able to tell, but she was still paranoid. Noah was the last person she wanted to find out. There was no telling what he would do. He told her that she didn't need to be shy because he already seen her naked before. She spent nearly ten days completely naked with him but that didn't mean felt comfortable around him. "I've been inside you...even your little asshole." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Please...don't remind me about that." It was probably the worst part of her time with him and the most painful. She would've taken more beatings over anal sex with him. "You can stop with the modesty. I only find that annoying." She honestly didn't care if he was annoyed or not. She was annoyed with him and he didn't care! With a soft groan, she slowly put her feet down on the floor and unraveled her arms from around herself and placed her hands in her lap, still covering her stomach up. "There. Hope you're happy now. Wouldn't want to annoy you any more."

"…oh no...However will I live without your forgiveness? Get over yourself.  Hate me if you want to.  It changes nothing.”  She did hate him. She hated him more than anything but it wasn't something that she'd admit to anymore. As hard as it was, she needed him to think that he was breaking her. There were some setbacks to that plan though. Like right now, this was a major setback! She was too upset about not being able to go see her husband to pretend. "Fuck you.." she muttered under her breath and turned her attention back to the screen.

"Right now? I want you to watch the tape. I want you to take it all in. I want you to remember it all, and I want you to see what happened after we left." She remembered everything. Every time she closed her eyes she could see Benji's face when he begged her not to listen to Noah. He could've begged all night long, nothing he could say would ever change her mind. Ryleigh was glad she did what she did. "Fine. No sex then." a forced smirk appeared. "You were the one who said you wanted me to please you." She knew her talking was most likely going to get on his nerves, which was exactly why she was doing it.

Her eyes were fixed on the screen and she watched everything play out right in front of her eyes all over again. Watching it was almost as good as living it. "...I like that hammer in your hands. I like what you can do with it, pet...I wish you had clocked him once in the knob!" Her head tilted and turned to face him. "I like the way it felt in my hands...I kinda wish I could do it all over again. I'd hit him more.." She turned back to the video and Noah was rewinding it. He zoomed in on Benji's terrified face. In all of the years she had known him for she never once seen him that scared! She had that same look of fear in her eyes every single time he beat her. It felt so good to give that fear right back to him. The only good thing Noah ever did for her was allowing her to help out with this. It was something she needed to do. "You...scared him."  Ryleigh took in a breath and a real genuine smile started to appear. "I never thought I'd be able to do something like this...I always thought about it though. After our fights...after he left me bloody and bruised...I'd think of ways to get him back...but I knew he'd most likely have me arrested if I tried anything. You....you made all of this possible for me...and I really am thankful for it." Her eyes were still fixed on the screen as she spoke. She winced slightly when Noah's machete came right down and severed Benji's hand. That part was still nauseating. "I got too into it." She let out a soft laugh at that one. "Normally that would be a problem." She glanced back to him, "Did you clean all of that blood up?..." She still didn't know he actually had people come in to clean it for him.

"Not as cute as you are...but you know...”  He wasn’t sure what to make of that!  The wink afterward either.  It was probably just a joke or a friendly comment mostly about a giftstore bear.  He was not about to question it.  It was innocent he was sure.  The last thing he wanted to do was chase her away!  He’d be stuck here alone.  "I thought it'd be good for you to see a friendly face. I wouldn't miss this."  It was so good to have someone there!  His eyes lowered though when she said that she wouldn’t have missed it.  All he thought of was Ryleigh.  What had happened?  What could have possibly kept her?  Was she okay?  Maybe something had happened to her?  Now he was worried about her.  He had known Ryleigh forever, he couldn’t think of a single thing that would keep her from something like this!  She knew he needed her there!  No matter how hurt he had been that morning, and how cold he had seemed afterward.  Layla mentioned the bakery, but Allen just shook his head.  He knew better.  That was not what was keeping her.   She had lied about that, he had caught her.

"What? No...I don't think you're pathetic at all, Allen."  He watched as she leaned closer and put her hand on his.  He shouldn’t allow for this, but the comfort in the touch was something he actually really needed right now.  It was only his hand.  His eyes met hers as she told him he was a survivor.  His thumb lifted to wrap around the edge of her hand, just for a second to show he was grateful for the gesture.  “…we hardly know each other, but you’ve already become a friend…” he might actually take her up on the offer to help him.  He was considering the idea and that alone was amazing for someone like him.  He did things on his own usually!  After his electrocution he had been alone.  He had recovered alone.  After the baseball bat to the head it was the same way.  He had never been this emotionally weak before.  He was really damaged by Scarlett, and Ryleigh, even though it was the last thing she wanted to do, was damaging him even further with her absence!  “I’ll take all the support I can get.” He smiled at her.  He had no idea what those words would lead to.

“You’d be willing to stay?” His lips parted, he stared at her.  “Really?” he paused and then he quickly shook his head.  “I can’t ask you to do that…”  though the idea of Cap’n Crunch was a huge temptation!  He really loved that cereal!  He also dreaded the idea of being alone here.  He smiled as he thought about it.  "I'll stay just until your wife comes, okay?”   That seemed reasonable.  Ryleigh should be coming soon.  His surgery had gone faster than they had planned so... she might not know he was finished. “..If you’re sure I’m not keeping you from anything…” he licked his lips, he was a little nervous, he wasn’t used to being vulnerable or needy.  “…I would like it if you stayed…I hate being alone now.  All I think of is Scarlett…and...when it’s quiet enough I swear I can hear her laughing.  She has the creepiest laugh….all the memories come back.” his eyes had drifted away from her.  “I’m alone pretty much every night…until like 2 am?  And then she’s out the door again first thing in the morning.  I’m glad I’m going back to work... I need to get out.  The house creeps me out.  That’s where I was….” He shrugged... “….when Scarlett came with the gun.” He was not intending to say so much!  It just fell out.

"It's not about what you want pet!" This wasn't going to end well for her. No matter how much she tried to protest, she knew she wasn't going to get out of there any time soon. Her marriage was already crumbling because of what Noah was doing. Allen was visibly upset with her this morning, and he had every right to be, he found another man's name on her back! If the tables were turned and she found a woman's name carved into his back, she would've automatically assumed the worst. Sure, he had a tattoo of Scarlett's name...but that was completely different. Ryleigh knew what Scarlett had done to him. Ten days of pure torment. Allen knew Noah...but he didn't know what kind of a man he really was. The more she snuck off to see him and spent time with him....the more it'd look like they were having an affair. This was an important day for Allen and she wasn't even allowed to be there with him. "I can't believe you're doing this to me..." Out of everything he had done in the past, the rapes, the beatings, not allowing her to be with her husband hurt the worst.

Ryleigh tried to make a deal with him. If he only let her go, she would've came back in the morning. All she wanted to was to be there with Allen when he needed her the most. Noah refused that though. When he stood up, she took a step back, but he was still holding on to her hand. Within seconds, her shirt was shredded by the force of him ripping it. "YOU belong to ME!" A loud scream erupted from her throat when he grabbed her by her hair and threw her back onto the couch. She began swatting at him when he started to pull her pants off. "I own you...if I say stay, you'll stay." She felt like a dog. Her legs were frantically kicking at him but he managed to pull both her pants and panties off. If she just sat there and watched that fucking video, she would've been able to go home once it was over. Sitting up, she scooted over to the end of the couch and brought her knees up to her chest. "Stop. Just...fucking stop!" Her hatred for this man was only growing stronger with every passing second. Now that the drugs were wearing off, that calmness she felt no more than an hour ago, had turned to anxiousness. She just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. "…you like to think you have control.  You have nothing that I don’t give you.  You have to earn your time at home. You earn it by pleasing me...and I am not pleased, pet!” Her bra was taken from her next, now she was completely naked. Her arms wrapped around her chest to cover herself the best she could. Ryleigh remained quiet as she watched him move over to the safe. She'd have to try to get his code one of these days, it'd be something she could use in the future. She tried to peek inside, all she could see were the stacks of money in there. When he turned back, she quickly looked away. He told her to get comfortable and she glanced back up at him. "...I'll never forgive you for this." Noah took a seat beside her and she slid even further away from him, she was practically sitting on the arm of the couch now. The further away from him she could get, the better.

Her attention turned back to the television and she stared blankly at it. All she could think about was Allen. "You'll be staying until the sun comes up, unless you can please me enough that I change my mind." She turned her head to look at him. "How do you want me to please you, Noah? Do you want sex? A blowjob? What? What do you want?" She hated herself for even asking that. Her eyes narrowed slightly before she turned back to look at the tv. Ryleigh watched as the video showed her with the hammer. It came down hard against her ex's arm. Not once, but twice. The final blow hit him right in the jaw. She let out a soft gasp. Of course she remembered doing it but actually seeing herself do it made her stomach turn. She had to keep telling herself that Benji deserved everything that happened to him. Years of abuse led him right to that point. "Why are we watching this...?"

"No...No no...please. I'm glad you came." She was hoping to hear something along those lines. Even though he was disappointed his wife wasn't there, she knew if she continued to work with him, he'd eventually be happier to see her than the other woman. That's what she wanted. His wife was going to be nothing more than a bad memory by the time she got through with him.

"You haven't even touched my hand yet..." Layla's lips perked up. "Of course I have!" Not in the way she was supposed to though. It was all friendly touches, nothing work related yet, but soon those friendly touches were going to turn into so much more. She let out a soft laugh when he told her that the bear sounded cute as hell. "Not as cute as you are...but you know.." with a wink, she quickly turned her attention to the balloons. "I'm really am glad you like 'em." Allen looked almost shocked when she told him that she'd been waiting for him to get out of surgery. She wanted to make herself look so much better than his wife. That didn't take much to do these days. It really seemed as if that woman was cheating on her husband and Layla knew that would only make her plans that much easier to go along with. "I thought it'd be good for you to see a friendly face. I wouldn't miss this."

Allen looked away from her when she made a comment about Ryleigh being busy. She could tell how disappointed and hurt he was. "She told me she would be here. I don't know what happened." That smile on his face was long gone now. What could be SO important that his own wife wouldn't show up to his surgery? She couldn't think of one thing that would pull her away from something like this. Oh, if they only knew what was really going on. "Maybe something happened at the bakery..." Again. How many emergencies did a bakery have? That seemed so odd to her. Not that Layla really cared though.. All that mattered was that she was alone with Allen. “I thought sitting at home alone was pathetic… but this is so much worse, Layla.  I’m so pathetic… I swear I wasn’t like this before Scarlett.” Her mouth dropped open slightly. "What? No...I don't think you're pathetic at all, Allen." She leaned in closer and gently placed her hand over his. "What you've been through...that would change anyone. You're a survivor. And in time, this will all be a distant memory. I know it's tough. It fucking sucks, I get it. Right now, you just need all of the support you can get...and I'll be here to help you every step of the way, if you want me to."

"....hey...um...you can say no...but...They told me that I have to stay the night for observation... but it was my hand.  And other then groggy I feel fine.  I really want to get out of here…do you think you could pull some strings?  I just want to go home…” Her head tilted slightly. "I can ask for you...but I really doubt they'll let you get out of here. I know you don't wanna be here alone, I wouldn't want to be either. I can stay here with you for as long as you want me to. I'll even stay the night." Her lips started to twist upwards. "Maybe get you a box of Cap'n Crunch and we can have it for dinner...again. It'll be fun, just you and me!" Hopefully his wife wouldn't show up. She had to mention her though, or else it'd look a little shady on her part. "I'll stay just until your wife comes, okay? Believe me, you don't want to go home right after a surgery like this. It really is better if you just stay and relax...let the doctors take good care of you."

"Sorry, I'm not who you were expecting."  He lifted his good hand and waved it off. “No...No no…please, I’m glad you came.” "I really am sorry, Allen."  He was so very disappointed!  But he didn’t want to dwell on it.  That wouldn’t change it; it wouldn’t make Ryleigh show up.  Layla was here she had always shown him so much kindness.  And he was happy to see a friendly face.

"Of course I'd be here! You're my favorite patient."  That made him laugh.  “You haven’t even touched my hand yet...” well no, that wasn’t true, she had.. She had touched both his hands, his arms and a few other places on him.  All friendly.  Nothing weird.  But Allen meant in a therapist way.  He smirked at her.  When she told him about the bear.  “Yeah?  Too bad I missed it.  Sounds fucking cute as hell.”  He was a little loopy right now, but his head was actually clearing faster than he had thought it would.  His eyes went to the balloons he touched the strings, moving them a little.  “These are perfect, Layla…”  He was able to forget that fight he had almost had that morning.  The name on his wife’s back with the presence of a friend.  "I have no plans for the rest of the day. I've actually been here for the last couple of hours. I wanted to make sure I was here by the time you woke up."  He smiled wider. “You’ve been waiting for me for a couple hours?”  His brows pressed upward.  “I’m honored.  Really.”

"I really thought I'd see your wife. But...I guess she was busy....again."  Ouch.  He looked away from her face when she said that.  “She told me she would be here.  I don’t know what happened.”   His smile was gone his head shook just slightly.  "I'm sure she'll be here..."  His light eyes drifted back to her as she sat at his bed side, in the chair that Ryleigh should be in.  “I thought sitting at home alone was pathetic… but this is so much worse, Layla.  I’m so pathetic… I swear I wasn’t like this before Scarlett.”  She mentioned that she would have hated to find him here all alone after his surgery.  He wished so hard that he wouldn’t have to stay here!  He sighed, his eyes tracked the room.  Layla wouldn’t stay forever, and who knew when Ry would actually show up.  He was going to be in this room alone soon enough.  He wanted to rip the IV out and run out of that room.  He leaned back against the pillow and he turned his head back to Layla.  “…hey…um…” he knew he shouldn’t ask what he was about to ask!  They had only met recently; they had hung out a little but not much.  “...you can say no…but… They told me that I have to stay the night for observation... but it was my hand.  And other then groggy I feel fine.  I really want to get out of here…do you think you could pull some strings?  I just want to go home…”   The doctors probably wouldn’t go for it.  A patient being released to go home alone!!  No.  His wife couldn’t be reached; her phone was out of her reach in the pocket of a psycho!  Allen had Vinny.  But right now Allen wasn’t thinking about his brother.  “…I’m sorry… I shouldn’t ask that of you.  Forget it.  Besides no one is home anyway.”  Unless Ryleigh was there?  Was she home?  He had no idea where she was!  No idea what had happened to her!  Sitting here in this backless hospital gown was not going to help him!

"Ry?" Layla stepped inside and shook her head. "Sorry, I'm not who you were expecting." Even for her, the fact that his wife wasn't there for him, was fucked up! She could see the disappointment in his face before it faded. "I really am sorry, Allen." Part of her was sorry but she knew this was only going to eventually push Allen closer to her. The more his wife wasn't around the lonelier he'd become and Layla would always be there to pick up the pieces of his lonely heart.

"Layla...I didn't know you'd come..." Her eyes lit up and a smile appeared. "Of course I'd be here! You're my favorite patient." her words were followed by a wink. They hadn't even started therapy yet but she was already writing prescriptions for him. He told her that he loved the balloons and her smile widened. "They had a cute little bear down there, had a little tiny cast on it's hand. I was thinking about picking him up for you...but I decided on the balloons instead. I might actually get that little guy later on though, he was adorable." Almost as adorable as she thought Allen was. "Can you stay a little while." Layla nodded at the question.  "I have no plans for the rest of the day. I've actually been here for the last couple of hours. I wanted to make sure I was here by the time you woke up." She paused for a moment and shook her head. "I really thought I'd see your wife. But...I guess she was busy....again." Layla's favorite thing to do was plant doubt into Allen's mind. The more he doubted his wife the faster she'd be able to reel him in. “Have a seat…please…distract me from the empty room.”  She made her way over to his bed and tied the balloons to the railing, then pulled up a seat and sat down. Reaching up, she gently squeezed his shoulder. "I'm sure she'll be here..." Hopefully not! Allen thanked her for coming and told her how happy he was that she was there. "Allen, sweetheart, you don't have to thank me. I'm happy to be here. I'd hate to find out that you were all alone here after a surgery like that. I wouldn't miss this for anything.."
