#3 RELENTLESS

death incarnate — Bella Thorne gif pack

When Mackenzie had moved back to Hartsville a few months earlier, she had moved back with one motive in mind; to win back her ex. Their relationship had ended quicker than it had begun, but it had been intense. It had been real and Avery? She had been the greatest love of Mackenzie’s life, but the redhead had left without a word. She had her reasons of course, reasons she would never tell the blonde, but they were valid and they were there. They ate away at her and were relentless but she couldn’t tell Avery why she had left. What was she supposed to say? That she was a slut and had been punished for it? That she had scars on her body from words being forcibly etched into her skin? She’d thought about telling the truth a hundred times but every single time the words had been on the tip of her tongue, she’d swallowed them and changed the subject, deciding to keep her secrets dead and buried, and instead she had decided to let Avery think the worse - that the redhead simply didn’t care about her or love her enough to stay.

Shaking the thoughts from her head, Mackenzie brushed a strand of her fiery red locks behind her ear and pulled out her phone to send her ex a quick text, but halfway through typing the message, she decided to slowly delete each letter and shove her phone into her pocket. She’d been relentless in her pursuit of the blonde, knowing that whenever she was around Avery would hide or make sure sure that she was nowhere to be found, so she’d decided that the best way to make sure she could catch up with Avery was if she didn’t let her know that she was coming. Grabbing her purse, she made her way out of her house and locked the door, heading straight from her car that was parked in the driveway. After reaching the driveway, Mackenzie pulled open the door and slipped her slender frame into the car, biting down on the corner of her mouth as she turned on the engine. She knew that this could have been a huge mistake; she’d hurt Avery so what made her think she had any right to force herself into her ex-girlfriend’s life now, but yet, she didn’t shut off the engine despite every bone in her body telling her to.

After a short drive and to the studio, she parked up as a car and shut off the engine but for a few seconds, she just sat there with no sound but the tapping of Mackenzie’s fingertips on the steering wheel filling the air. She needed to think about what she was going to say to her ex and whether or not talking to her, confronting her, and pushing her into a corner was the best idea. How could she force Avery to talk to her if she really didn’t want to? If truth be told though, Mack didn’t truly believe that Avery was finished with her. Was she being delusional? Possibly, but she couldn’t bring herself to accept that it was over between them. The blonde was the love of her life and she couldn’t accept that it was over between them, she just couldn’t. Sinking her teeth into her lower lip, she grabbed her purse from the passenger seat and opened the car door. “Here goes nothing,” she mumbled as she slid from the car seat and closed the door, making her way into the studio.

#2 FEAR

Bella Thorne GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY | Bella thorne, Bella, Couple dancing

July 2018

Pressing play on her phone, Mackenzie Reign Winters leaned back and let her head rest against the concrete of the pool as she sank her body into the cold water that surrounded her. Finally, there was peace and quiet and Mackenzie finally could relax, even if it was only for a little while before she went to see her girlfriend but she was exhausted and before she knew it, she had drifted off into a peaceful slumber.  Considering she was surrounded it was incredibly dangerous, but her eyelids had closed before she realized what was happening. A few minutes seemed to pass before she was woken when she heard heels clicking against the pavement outside. “Ave? I thought we were meeting at Kracken?” she called out as she climbed out of the swimming pool, assuming it was her girlfriend that she could hear. Nothing. No answer and there was nothing but silence that lingered in the air. “Hello? Ave?”

After taking a deep breath, the redhead grabbed a towel from the lounge chair and wrapped it around her slender frame as she made her way around the pool to see if anyone was there, fear had completely taken over and she could feel an invasion of butterflies in the pit of her stomach as she tried to keep her composure. If it wasn’t Avery then who was in her house? Well, technically it was her grandparents' home, but still. They were away for the weekend and her older sister, Mercedes, hadn’t been home in two years. No, it couldn’t have been anyone in her family; so who was in her home? “Hello, Mackenzie.” Fear soared through her slender frame when she heard that all too familiar voice. What was he doing there? Hadn't he hurt her enough? He’d taken her innocence and yet he still managed to worm his way into her family, into her life, into her home. “You’re meant to be in jail,” she spat, her throat becoming dry as she took a few steps back. “Get out. Go away!”

He didn’t listen and instead moved closer to Mackenzie and the closer he became, the more fear took over and the quicker she moved back until she fell over, landing on the concrete with her stepfather towering over her. “Don’t I get a hug? Didn’t you miss me?” Tears formed in her eyes as she scurried back like a crab before turning and running towards the double doors that led into her kitchen. As soon as she ran over the threshold, she pulled the door ranchslider doors shut and locked them. “Go away!” She screamed. “I won’t let you hurt me again,” she added as she reached for the phone on the kitchen countertop and dialed 911. She hadn’t seen her stepfather since he had raped her when she was 15 years old and she hoped to never see him again. It had taken all the strength she had to tell her mother and the police what he’d done and there was no way that she could go through that again. It would break her.

#1 PHOTOGRAPH

The House ON Hill Street - ** Face Claim ** - Wattpad

What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce. That was a quote that Mackenize had heard long ago and had never forgotten. It was a simple sentence, but one that had never been more accurate, or at least in the redhead’s opinion, especially when it came to the photograph that she gripped tightly in her hand. It meant more to her than almost anything else because of the girl in the photo with her, because of Avery. The blonde was the love of her life, but like always, she’d managed to hurt her and push her away until all that was left between them was pain and resentment. She’d grown since then though, changed and she wanted to put all of that pain and heartache behind her; behind both of them but she also knew that it wasn’t as easy as that, despite what she would have liked. Shaking the thought from her head, she looked down at the picture of her and her ex-girlfriend and swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. She’d agreed to give the photo to her former girlfriend, but now she was having second thoughts.

“Do you have it?” Mackenzie sunk her teeth into her lower lip gently when she heard that all too familiar voice. The photo didn’t just mean a lot to Avery, but it meant a lot to her too. It represented a time in her life that Mackenzie didn’t want to forget, but maybe forgetting was exactly what she needed. Slowly, she glanced up to make eye contact with her ex, sinking her teeth into her lower lip as Avery took a seat opposite her. “Yeah, I have it,” she mumbled, placing the photo down on the table before sliding it towards her. She didn’t know what else to say, what else was there to say? Nothing, so instead, she sat across from her in silence and studied the blonde, waiting for her to talk or for any sign of movement, but Avery sat there almost as still as Mackenzie. She couldn’t tell how she felt at that moment, but maybe that was a good thing, well, it was if Avery was thinking something that Mackenzie didn’t want to hear!

The silence that filled the space between them was awkward and uncomfortable, so she knew that she needed to break it sooner rather than later. Pushing a loose strand of her hair away from her face, Mackenzie cleared her throat and took a deep breath before she spoke up, her eyes flicking from the photo to Avery and back again. “A..” she paused, moving her hand to place it on top of the blonde’s before giving it a gentle squeeze. “Ave, I’ve missed you. I miss you and this photo, it means as much to me as it does to you. I know I screwed up, I know I hurt you, but that girl right there,” paused as she pointed to the picture of her and Avery. “That girl there is the real me; the real us and I will never give up on you.” Despite the pain she had caused, she knew that her and Avery were destined to be together.

Option Task: NPC Connection Drabble

Long dark locks hung loosely over her shoulders and the muscles in her stomach tightened as she walked through the gates. The fence that stood around the building, keeping pure evil locked behind bars for what she could only hope was the rest of his life, towered over her, but she wasn’t focused on the fence or the guards that stood at the gates and doors, watching as visitors made their way inside. Why was she even there? She hated him with the passion of a thousand burning suns. He had ruined her life and left scars that would never heal, but maybe that was the reason that she had to go and see him one last time. She needed to find a way to put it all behind her and move on with her life; she needed to find a way to get past everything that he had done to her. It wouldn’t be easy and Luna knew that but the hatred that she had buried deep down inside of her was always there and it kept her from getting on with her life. It kept her running from a past that she couldn’t forget.

“Hello, Luna.” His voice sent a shiver up her spine and she slowly looked up; her eyes locking on him for the first time in three years. She had wanted to be there when Dr. Ryan had been sentenced, but she’d been unable to step foot back in Hartsville. Even now she found it difficult to be in the town where her life had been turned upside down, to face him, but she needed to. She needed to look him in the eyes and not be afraid, though that was a lot easier said than done. As she came face to face with the man who had helped destroy her life, she didn’t even remember how she had gotten there. It was as if her feet had had a mind of their own and had carried her the short distance to the visitor's room without her consciously realizing it. “I didn’t think you’d come.” His voice was like a knife, piercing her flesh over and over again as she was once again pulled from her own thoughts and slowly took a seat across from him.

Taking a deep breath, the brunette slowly placed her hands on the table, her fingers fidgeting nervously with the charm bracelet on her wrist. “I wasn’t sure I was going to. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to, but I needed to,” she finally replied as her dark brown eyes slowly met his. “I needed to know why. Why me?” The question was almost laughable. What did it matter? She still had the scar from the tattoo that he had etched onto her skin, a reminder that even those you should have been able to trust were capable of some of the most horrendous acts. Despite knowing that her question was a pointless one, she needed to find some answers. Whether he would give them to her though was a completely different story. He didn’t answer though. It was as if she hadn’t spoken at all, so she sat there, staring across at him in complete silence. They were in a standoff, silently daring the other to speak first and break the silence that lingered between them, but he didn’t speak. He said nothing at all. Shaking her head, the brunette rolled her chocolate-colored hues and slowly got up. “This was a mistake, I shouldn’t have bothered.”

Luna wanted to go home and forget that she had made the stupid decision to go and see him, but she had and it had been for nothing. “Is that what you really wanted to know? After all this time, you came to visit me to ask why I picked you?” His words soared through her like a shockwave and she stopped in her tracks, slowly turning back to face him. “Or was there something else you wanted to ask?” She stared at him for several long seconds before slowly moving to sit back down across from him. “Five minutes.” She glanced over at the prison guard before looking at the clock. She only had five minutes to ask the one question that she really wanted to know, but she was terrified to ask. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes for a second or two, taking a deep breath as she gathered her thoughts before her mouth fell open and she finally spoke. “Why did you do any of it?” She knew why he had chosen her. She had been sleeping around; the word etched on her skin had told her exactly why he had picked her, but that wasn’t what she wanted to know. She’d trusted him and she needed to know why he had started any of this and why he had led all of those people to their deaths. It could have easily been her, so she needed to know why it had all started in the first place. “And don’t give me some bullsh*t excuse about God. Just tell me, why?”
