It was a cold and stormy, black night. There was a blizzard brewing outside so Catalina and her brother Roman were out gathering fire wood before if got too bad. Their father Demitri was keeping the fire lit in their large stone fire place. He wore a sapphire amulet around his neck which began to glow ruby red. he looked down at the amulet and let out a gasp. He quickly got to his feet and went to his weapon case. As he was pulling out a shotgun Catalina burst through the door arms full of wood. Demitri swung around pointing the gun at her. She dropped the wood and put her hands up. "Whoa Its just me father!" He lowered his weapon with a worried look upon his face. Catalina walked over to him. "Is everything alright father?" She gently touched Demitri on his shoulder trying to comfort him. He looked at her.
"Take this." He said removing the amulet from around his neck and slipping it over her head. She untucked her long red curls letting them casscade down passed the her lower back and examined the amulet. "It was your mother's. It helps to let you know when danger is around so that you can stay safe."
"But why are you giving it to me?" She asked curiously. He grabbed catalina by her shoulders and looked into her eyes.
"Listen to me very carefully. I need you to take your brother and get as far away from her as you can, whatever happens." Catalina opened her mouth to object but was cut off by Demitri. "Whatever happens Cat! Im counting on you." She didnt understand what was going on but she trusted her father. She nodded as he handed her the shotgun. She turned to head for the door.
Catalina reached the door and raised her head expecting to see Roman standing there. Instead it was a mysterious woman dressed in all black wearing a hood over her head to hide her identity. The amulet got brighter as the woman raised a hand up. "Catalina get back!" The woman sent a dark blast of energy towards Catalina knocking her against the wall. She dropped the gun and fell to her knees hard. Demitri started to fire another gun he had quickly pullled from the case. The bullets turned to dust inches away from the woman as she made her way to Catalina. "Get away from her! You cant have her!" The woman waved her hand as shadow figures pulled themselves out of the ground around them. Demitri began shooting at them but it did nothing to them. They restrained him forcing him to his knees. The woman never took her attention off Catalina. As she lifted her palm up Catalina was pulled from the ground but couldnt move.
"At last I have found you my dear little sister." The woman said. "Father has been very worried about his little angel. We have been searching the ends of the earth trying to find you. It's time to come home." This woman was a dangerous stranger but Catalina felt draw to her. She couldnt explain why so she looked over at Demitri.
"Dad, what is she talking about?" The woman scoffed and grew angry pointing her finger at Demitri.
"As if this pathetic excuse for a hunter could be our father. This man kidnapped you after our mother died. He kept you away from your true family. As well as lied to you about what you are." She punched Demitri hard in the gut. "He is nothing but a lier." Catalina tried to fight against the invisible force holding her in place. "You see, if you knew what you were you could easily get out. Come with me and we will help you discover yourself."
"Dont listen to her Catalina. She lying!" Demitri shouted. The woman met him with a fist to the face that broke his nose. Blood came pouring from his nose.
"Stop it!" Catalina cried out.
"I am not lying. You are the lier and I can prove it." The woman lowered her hood. It was like looking into a mirror but instead the woman had jet black hair and bloody red eyes." I am your older twin sister Freya Valentine." Catalina couldn't believe her eyes. She couldnt believe the fact that Demitri had lied to her for so long about so much. "Please dont fight me, you cant win. Come with me willingly. Please." She looked up at her sister.
"They are my family. I wont go with you." The woman smirked.
"I was hoping we could do it the hard way. Father wanted me to play nice. But you have given me no choice." She snapped her finger. A shadow figure walked through the door holding roman by his arms. It brought Roman over to stand in front of catalina. "Just know, I warned you sister."
With a quick movement Freya slit Roman's throat with her long black nail. The warm red liquid sprayed on catalina's face. When she opened her mouth to gasp Freya wiped the blood across her sister's lips causing her to taste human blood for the first time. Catalina's blue eyes turned bloody red as sharp fangs slid from her gums. Freya lowered her spell as catalina lunged forward sinking her fangs into Roman's neck. She couldnt control herself as she chewed into his skin like a feast. "Catalina Nooo!" Demitri called out. Freya walked over to him and smirked placing a hand on his chest.
"Thats enough out of you human." She dug her claws into his chest until she felt his heart in her grasp. "You thought you were so smart hiding her away all these years...thought you were protecting her from us" She squeezed on his heart smiling as his screams filled her ears. "Now look at you....so weak and fragile. We will take her home and she will fulfil her purpose." She grinned evily as she ripped his heart from his chest. She dropped his heart and licked the blood from her finger. "Mmm,not to bad."
As Demitri's corpse hit the floor Catalina broke from her trance and looked at him tears in her eyes. Then her gaze went to her brother. His neck missing a huge chunk. She began to pant, the room growing smaller around her. She was overwhelmed with so much emotions that a strong blast of energy exploded from her as she cried out. The blast destroyed the shadowy figures and sent Freya crashing into the wall cracking the stones around her. She looked at her dead family one last time before throwing her hood over her head and disappearing into the snowy night.
