Intro and Guidelines

Who the f*** is this guy?

I don't know where exactly Caleb came from.  I've always thought that Deadmau5 just looks like a ridiculous character with an intense story.  But I never thought of making a character for him until recently.  I got pretty into a few games that my son plays, one of them being this really creepy asylum game and the other, The Convenience Store.  Both of those games are low on graphics and big on atmosphere.  I've always loved creepy settings, had plenty of paranormal profiles.  Here's a shot from the Convenience Store.


Then the backstory just kind of came to me one day in the shower (it's where art forms.)  I'll try to lay out what I've got on my bio, but I've purposely left quite a bit of range up to our discussion, if you choose to write with me.  That way I can take Caleb wherever I want him to be, depending on the cowriter.

With that said, here's what you should know if you wanna write with me:

• I don't accept random starters.  Talk to me first and let's plot a little bit.
• I have a kid, wife, life, job, school.  Writing comes after all of that.  You gotta be patient.
• I'm way out of practice with banter and status rp, but willing to try.  LMK if you'd like to do that, or I won't think to do it myself.
• I don't mind writing dark themes, but I won't write gore or smut for gore or smut's sake.  Not interested.
• In fact just bet on me not writing smut at all lol.

• Deadmau5 is only a face.  I don't agree with some of the guy's takes, and I hope he continues to grow.  He's said he struggles with his mental health and I believe him.  But I'm not here to write Joel Zimmermann.
• My favorite topics will be anything paranormal or suspense.  Ghosts, demons, hallucinations.  Monsters.  Suspected covens.  Maybe even a vampire plot or something, you get the gist.  Also very into crime, drama, and related.
• Caleb's vibe is one of paranoia and erratic socialization.  His parents died a few years back and he was involuntarily hospitalized shortly after.  He has zero idea why, and no memory of the place.  This baffles his friends and sister, but they assume it has to do with the meds or treatments.  Obviously this doesn't jive with Caleb and he becomes more reclusive and paranoid after the incident.
• His work is shady and mostly online.  Much like his face claim, he's very old-school computer game nerdy.  His ratty apartment is filled with computers, monitors, cords.  Despite some of the less scrupulous involvements he has, he mostly mixes and masters music.  Caleb is a talented musician and has the coveted 'magic ear' to engineer perfect tracks.  His work keeps him a comfortable amount of money.
• His socializing happens after dark.  I am considering the best cause of why; I'd like to make Caleb have a daylight sensitivity after leaving the institution.  Sort of a gained sun allergy.  But also, he just prefers the night because he can stay hidden from people.  He does things like deejay, and picks up grave shifts at the local gas station.....not for money's sake, but just to have a routine and be seen once in awhile.  Despite his furtive nature, he does have a lot of friends in the music scene.
• Location and setting can vary.  In general, he lives in an apartment in a city, but his family home (and sister's current location) is a woodsy suburb near a forest.  He visits her often, and I'm happy to write a story with either location in the background.
