“definitely…” Aiden smiled up at him before he stood up and took his hand. As they made their way to his bedroom, Aiden began to shrug his t shirt off. “Remind me when I get my first paycheck to get some new clothes with it…? Alex’s old stuff is way too tight for my liking… “Aiden chuckled as he looked back at him, stretching his arms over his head.
Her hand began to tremble as she wrote. Tears welled in her eyes before she began to scribble and scribble. Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore and in anger, she began to tear the pages out, pages filled with songs and poems that she hadn’t finished yet. Pages of hard work. But everything was too much for her. Between the pain, the exhaustion, all of it.
“Shouldn’t you know better than to leave the nest, little bird? “ A voice echoed from behind her before Cassian began to appear from the shadows, taking a drag from his cigarette. “The bloodhounds would surely love to see this. The little bird away from her mama’s watchful eye.” He chuckled as he circled around her. “So tell me, dear, how does the hunt for a husband go?” His tone was almost mocking, a cruel smirk on his face.
Chastity’s doe-eyes immediately widened in shock, a hand coming up to her mouth. “Oh…. Char, I… I couldn’t…” It was beautiful. More beautiful than anything she’d ever seen in her life. Tears welled in her eyes at the very end before she rushed over to her side and threw her arms around her sister’s neck. She gently took the guitar and the case, clutching it close to her chest, like it was the most precious thing in the world.
“Yeah… you’re right… “ He murmured softly as he reached out to brush a thumb over his cheekbone before leaning in to press a soft kiss to his forehead. “Come on… you need to get to bed. I can stay with you again… if that’ll help you sleep…?” He offered him a warm smile, tilting his head to the side slightly.
Hope swiped a shaky hand over her eyes and glanced over at her vanity in the corner. She slowly sat up in bed and pursed her lips. On top of it was her notebook. A notebook where she wrote her songs, filled with notes and samplings. She lifted her hand and pointed to it. She hoped he would noticed that she wanted him to bring it to her.
Cassian couldn’t help but smirk further. She was too easy to read. He turned to the Baron briefly. “Do excuse me, sir… I need some air and a cigarette.” The Baron narrowed his eyes briefly before turning back to the performance on stage. Meanwhile, Cassian lingered just outside the theater, leaned up against a door as he pulled a match book and his cigarettes. God, how he hated the crowds. The whisperings around him like he wasn’t actually there. It was irritating… Society really was something he truly detested. There was no such thing as true polite society. Not with judge mental and hypocritical stares at every turn.
“Yeah yeah… come on.” Mammon rolled his eyes a bit as he motioned for her to go and sit down. He plopped in a chair by the window, his mind wandering to where the hell Lucifer could have hidden his damn card. His sweet baby was all alone… begging to be used to be spent. He sighed shakily as he leaned back in his chair, barely focused on whatever boring lecture was going on.
Chastity parted her lips to say something else before he left, but thought better of it. Charity came barreling in, holding in each hand,” you’re up! I was hoping you would be.” She wrapped her arms around her, giving her a warm squeeze. “I’ve got some gifts. Well… Greed is the one who bought them.” The way Charity spoke his name… with.. tenderness… it caught Chastity off guard a bit. Greed stood in the doorway, watching Charity with what looked almost like… longing. A strange sight, indeed.
Aiden chuckled softly and went to sit next to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. “I know what you mean… sometimes I wonder what my parents would think of me. If they were still around. I’m sure they’d give me crap about flitting from job to job still, trying to figure out who I am after all these years. I was always kind of a sh*t son, you know…?”
