Gideon James Matthews, the only child to medical surgeons Carrick and Helena Matthews was born in Seattle, Washington on a gloomy day. As the only child, Gideon was loved and well taken care of. After he was born, his mother ended her career as a doctor and stayed at home to take care of Gideon, while his father, Carrick, continued to work at the hospital. Gideon had attended the best schools, private schools and went into high school, graduating at the top of his class. After high school, Gideon went to Harvard University, majoring in medicine and got his medical degree. During college, Gideon had a relationship with one of his professors, who was gay and they had to keep it a secret because if was against the rules to have a relationship with a teacher. The affair went for four years and Gideon had ended it. After graduating from medical school, Gideon moved back to the west coast, moving to California, where he opened up a medical practice for teenage boys and men.
