Long before the sands of time began to run, war was waged between vampire kind and monsters. Mortal enemies, and long-time foes, both sides found much bloodshed and hardship as the fight for supremacy continued. Fearing the worst, Shiklah’s father demanded that she be sealed in a glass sarcophagus until such a time that the war was ended, or until her marriage would be arranged to end it. And so, the princess slept for centuries in a dreamless sleep.

Time marched on and the modern world was born. Dracula, king of the vampires hires Deadpool, a mercenary immune to mind control to go to the Arabian Peninsula to retrieve the sarcophagus containing his bride to be. His plan was to wed Shiklah to unite the vampires and monsters against the humans and reclaim the surface. This plan was spoiled, however, when Shiklah’s brothers, Amjad and Baqir show up at Dracula’s manor to celebrate the wedding. Meaning that Shiklah was not in fact the heir to the monster throne and their wedding would be useless for the power Dracula craved.

Meanwhile, as Deadpool transports the coffin, he breaks it on accident and out pops Shiklah, getting her first glimpse at a whole new world. Hijinx ensue, including a fight with Blade, who warns Wade to stay away from Shiklah. In the slow trek through Europe towards New York, however, Wade finds himself falling for the succubus. A feeling that seems shared. Things come to a head when the pair learn that Dracula has murdered Shiklah’s brothers to establish her place on the throne and the validity of their marriage. Enraged by this action, Shiklah and Wade conspire to ruin Dracula’s plans and get married to each other before returning to New York. This causes an all-out war between monsters and vampires in the streets of New York, with the monsters narrowly winning. Wade is welcomed underground as the Queen’s consort.

The marriage is wonderful for some time. Wade teaches Shiklah about the world as it is today, and Shiklah provides Wade with the companionship and genuine attraction that he had been unable to find elsewhere. But eventually, the union becomes…..complicated……at best. As one could expect, being wed to a succubus means a healthy sex life, which Wade eventually ignores. He regularly puts his friends and others issues ahead of Shiklah’s wishes and she winds up sleeping with a few of her subjects, bodyguards, royal court, and staff. Regardless, the two stay together, happy with the interesting union until things finally spiral beyond repair.

When an elderly, senile member of the monster metropolis wanders into the human world and is brutally killed, Shiklah seeks vengeance on her subject’s behalf. The human justice system throws out the case and she decides that the time of man has reached its end. Donning the Staff of the Manticore, she lays claim over Manhattan for monster kind, calling to monsters all across the globe to come out of hiding and join the fight. Armed with a device from Parker Industries, modified by Morbius, she puts all humas to sleep to achieve this goal.

Unbeknownst to Shiklah, Deadpool has gone to Europe to seek aid from the one man who can stop her; Dracula. After a bet made over a video game, the Lord of Vampires agrees to help and follows back to New York. Once there, however, Dracula betrays Deadpool, proposing to Shiklah and the two are wed by Mephisto. As the wedding happens, under the streets of Manhattan, the ghost of Benjamin Franklin convinces monster kind that a monarchy was not the ideal system for government and the people tell Shiklah as much when she announces her union to Dracula and the truce between Vampires and Monsters. Shiklah reflects on this and decides that if her people do not want her as a leader, she wouldn’t force her rule upon them. She retires with Dracula, telling Wade in a letter that she will use this century of her life to get to know the world she woke up to, but to keep his phone on in case she ever requests a booty call.
