Background Story: Stephanie was born to Joseph and Sarah Rogers she is a year younger than her brother Steve. As a child, she was always very protective of her brother, because he was so sickly. She made sure to take care of him and patch him up when he got into fights. It was a saving grace when they met Bucky and his sister Rebecca, who was very protective of not only Steve but her as well. When their mother died both of them took it hard although Steve may have taken it a little harder. Again Stephanie was very thankful to Bucky and his family for being there.
Bucky and Becca decided to move in with them to help out which was good. Stephanie had to stay home, she didn't mind that because the blonde liked to cook. Another reason was that she liked to draw, maybe more than her brother. Steve, Bucky, and Becca always told her to do that for a living.
It scared her that Steve wanted to enlist in the Army. He didn't care how sickly he was, all the older blonde wanted to do was help others. Stephanie and the twins always argued there were other things he could do. That wasn't what Steve wanted to hear though, and after he got into yet another fight and Bucky saved him, they all went to the Stark expo which was nice. Even more so because she got to go as Bucky's date. After yet another argument between Steve and Bucky about her brother enlisting, Bucky took her dancing before he left in the morning.
Little did she know that was the last time she would see him for a very long time. As for Steve, he agreed to be part of an experiment so he could join the Army. He had done so without telling his sister knowing she wouldnโt be ok with the idea. Steve Rogers death broke headlines on March 5, 1945, and on March 6th, Stephanie received a letter postmarked from her brother that Bucky had died as well. His letter detailed his guilt over the death of his best friend; it would later be displayed in the Captain America Smithsonian Museum.
Roughly one year after her brother's death, Stephanie was kidnapped from her home in the dead of night. Torture and cryo at Hydra's hands was her repayment for being Steve Rogers (Captain America) sister. The same experiments that Zola had performed on Bucky were performed on her, including the serum, and when she became too much of a hassle to deal with at the same time as an unbroken Winter Soldier, they shoved her into cryofreeze.
In the late 90โs, she was pulled out of cryo and sent to the Red Room. This wasnโt what she wanted but to stay alive she accepted her fate, which was; be trained as a widow and become an assassin or die. It was frustrating at first, she would get beat and tortured if she didnโt listen or do what they wanted. She was trained by someone they called the winter soldier, he was hard on her and never spoke a word, what annoyed her the most was never seeing the manโs face. if he did speak it was in Russian which she learned being in the red room.
Stephanie decided to do as she was told long enough to see if she could get out alive, one of the missions she was sent to do was to go undercover as Stefania Rogova, a mother of two girls. One of them, Natalia, was already being trained in the red room. The other one was named Yelena, she was very young when brought into the โfamily.โ Stephanie got really close to both girls, feeling bad for what they would have to go through. It was heartbreaking for her to leave the girls making them believe she was dead.
While on a mission she got intercepted by Nick Fury, he helped her get away from the red room. Giving her a job at S.H.I.E.L.D. The blonde always thought of the two girls she helped raise even if it was for a short time. By 2011, she was working for S.H.I.E.L.D. for a few years getting to explain herself to Natasha when she saw her again. Stephanie lived in an apartment in Manhattan, always hoping the red room didn't find her.
She got a call from Nick Fury saying they found her brother frozen in ice. It had been almost 70 years, she couldn't believe he was still alive. Rushing over she sat by his bedside till he woke up.
