Who is she? What is she?
Background:
The phenomenon known as sleep paralysis was said to be the cause of demonic spirits known as night hags. The sensation of being immobilized in your bed, accompanied by a heavy presence on one's chest, or a mysterious figure in the room. A blend of reality and nightmare. These phenomenon's were speculated to occur for a multitude of reasons. One of which, was the prevention of enlightenment among mortals.
Ever since the age of three, Osorai has suffered from nightmares and sleep paralysis. Eventually developing chronic insonmnia due to the terror. As a result, her mental state became more and more unstable. Hallucinating constantly during the day, she was taken to numerous doctors and psychologists, but her behavior was often written off as schizophrenia. By the time she was six, she began casually pointing out ghosts, and spirits that humans could not see. She eventually became a figment of terror to her superstitious family. It became painfully clear to the young girl, that the true terrifying part was that she was alone. No one understood, or even wanted to understand her. Not even her own flesh and blood.
It wouldn't be long before the young girl, was approached by a mysterious woman. By this point, the little girl's luscious brown hair, had become a silvery grey, and her skin had become pail. Claiming to offer her freedom from her terror and suffering. Oblivious to the fact, that she would soon become an experiment. In a rare type of ritual, the mysterious woman would bind and fuse a primordial devil to the girl. An entity known as Mara, the grand night hag, also known as the embodiment of fear. It was then, that Osorai's life would change completely. Human, and demon, and yet.. neither. The little girl she was before, no longer existed, and her identity disappeared from the map entirely. It was as if she never existed. What became of her, and where she was only time would tell.
Present day
As an adult, Osorai had actually become quite beautiful, although with an appearance that gave off the feeling of an uncanny valley. Uncaring of her lonely past, she had learned to have a great love for her new family. After many years under the tutelage of the mysterious woman, and numerous events, Osorai had become the new incarnation of fear. Abilities that transcended what was previously possible by demons, Osorai had been deemed a threat to reality, and a symbol of fear to hell itself.
Personality:
On the surface, Osorai is a very bubbly and carefree individual. She enjoys all things horror related, and treats even the most disastrous of phenomenon's as a joke. She is nearly incapable of fearing anything, but the one thing she does fear is the loss of those she accepts into her life. Her behavior can often be described as chaotic and childlike. Having a tendency to pull over the top pranks. However, she is also extremely intelligent, and cunning.
Underneath her youthful and carefree demeanor, is an extremely sadistic and bloodthirsty psychopath. This personality is something she subconsciously locked away over the years. Typically only surfacing in certain occasions, or with certain individuals. This personality often enjoys taking time savoring her victim's suffering, in order to see their true selves. Often prolonging the torture to such a degree, that death becomes the more favorable option. Often making sure that her laughter would be the last thing permeating her victim's soul and mind.
