The Present - New York

The past few weeks had been almost as if in one major whirlwind for Fin Tutuola. Everything went from what was unfortunately his normal, everyday lonely night to finding his long lost daughter through way of trauma to her, then got to New Orleans with his newfound child -who wasn’t really a child anymore but would always be his little princess- and two of Olivia’s other children, Cassidy and Aurelia Amaro for Olivia’s older children’s birthday and hers as well. Things blew up there and he had felt more of a need to seize the day with Olivia after a bomb had gone off, severly injuring both Aurelia and Olivia.

There were certain things that Fin had a hard time pushing back much longer, though it also didn’t help when Rebekah had pretty much given him an ultimatum, in front of some others, including Olivia. He knew that in her own way, Rebekah was trying to help very bluntly. Part of him wished that she hadn’t, especially since he was planning on making a move when he had the chance. He just didn’t want their reunion of sorts to be when he didn’t feel like he would just be an emotional rebound.

The night that they arrived back to New York, Fin went into the apartment with his one and only true love. He heard every word that was said and swallowed hard. “Ok, I own that, but if you remember it was quite a rough time for us both and at the time you deserved better than I was.” He said honestly before continuing. “But that’s changed and I can’t just stand back any longer.”

Next thing Fin knew they were back in each other's arms and he loved every moment of it. The touch of her skin, her smell, the taste of her, the feeling of her wrapped around him in every way possible. It was intoxicating. Once they had finished that first round, they heard a phone ring but he just chuckled, having finally relaxed enough to feel as if he wasn’t on fire from the inside out. However, when he saw her moving towards the phone, he got a playful glint in his eyes and shook his head. “Uh uh uh, Captain. Your Sergeant's not done with you yet.” He winked and then kissed her passionately before he said. “You know what? I think I could go for something to eat.” With a wicked smirk, he kissed the other side of her neck, starting to leave a love mark on it.

Fin kissed down her body again, only this time instead of stopping with her stomach, he continued lower to her thighs, then inner thighs before kissing and trailing his tongue along the sensitive area where her groin met her inner thighs slowly. He wanted to drive her crazy. He then moved his tongue to slide along her entrance before he entered his tongue into her entrance. He savored the taste of her before he moved her legs over his shoulders, wrapping his arms around her thighs and pulled her by them closer to the edge of the counter. He wrapped his hands around to massage her clit as he ate her out.

Not long after that Fin moved his hand to enter a finger into her as he ate her out for a few moments before he started sucking on her clit as he entered another finger into her, fingering her with 2 fingers now. He was trying to drive her wild so he slowed his movements, savoring the moment. After a few more minutes did he pick up the pace, only stopping when she climaxed again.

Fin smirked as he moved to where he was standing against her with her legs on either side of his waist. He leaned in as he said, with his lips barely slipping along her lips. “So, Liv, you missed me?” He chuckled before saying. “Ok, not the best quip but what can I say, huh?” He winked, letting her body come down from the climax before he walked to the fridge, helping himself by looking for some whipped cream. He found some and shook it before he wiggled his eyebrows at Olivia. “How about it? Then we can take a nice, hot, sexy shower afterwards.” He barely waited for her answer before he sprayed some whip cream on her nipples. “Oops, I slipped.”

Fin walked over to the cabinet and took out some chocolate syrup and walked over to her. He went to her and took her chin seductively before he poured just enough chocolate syrup in her mouth to taste when he kissed her. He stuck his tongue in her mouth, massaging her tongue with his and feeling the chocolate creaminess moving between their mouths. He set the whip cream on one side of her and then the chocolate on the other as he pressed against her, sinking into the kiss.

Meanwhile, back in New Orleans, Annabelle had curled up on the couch in the living room, watching some tv. She was waiting on Casey to get back from his shift so they could have a date night. She heard the clicking of the blond vampire’s high heeled shoes on the floor as she came into the room. She raised an eyebrow but stayed there, letting the blond talk on the phone. That was until, suddenly, she felt a phone hit her in the back of her head. She grabbed her head and whirled her head around before she gave a look to Rebekah. “F***, that was my head, ya know! What the hell is wrong with you?”

Annabelle took Rebekah’s phone and got off of the couch to walk over to the older blond. “You went from happy go lucky to how dare you in point 5 seconds.” She raised an eyebrow before playfully adding. “And that’s a bit of a harsh mood swing, even for you.” She winked playfully as she handed the phone over to her.

Valerie had been in the back of the house by the fountain sitting on a bench and staring into the water, letting herself fall into the vision. She swallowed hard as she watched with her mind's eye. She smirked at first, having seen what was or would be going on finally in New York between Fin and Olivia. However her vision turned into something else entirely, one less visually crisp, but still as effective. It was as if she was channeling a vision from someone else, something that she was not trying to do in the slightest. It was almost like her vision had turned distorted, almost as if being drugged. She swallowed hard as she grabbed onto the edge of the bench, trying to break out of the vision. That was when she suddenly gasped and everything fell away, leaving her sitting there wondering what the hell just happened.

After a few moments, Sarrai appeared next to Valerie with a raised eyebrow. “You look as though you’ve seen a ghost, so to speak.” She said, knowing that ghosts wouldn’t give Valerie that look. Now ghosts from the past would, however. She c*cked her head to the side before she turned around and saw Violet come up to the yard, causing her to raise an eyebrow. “Well hello there.” She waved. “You must be Violet. How have you been adjusting to New Orleans?” She looked back to Valerie. “Hm, you said she was found but not that she’s taken to Gallo.”

Valerie stood up and took a deep breath. “Yes well, I didn’t think I’d have to tell you something so obvious.” She cleared her throat before looking between the two. “Violet, I know she’s been around but I can’t remember if we’ve actually introduced you to her. This is Sarrai, a goddess and someone who’s very close to the family.” She smirked before walking between them. “Come on in. Besides, I know at least someone who might want to see you.” She said, mainly to sarrai, knowing that there was a plan that Casey had been holding onto for a while and that Sarrai was going to help him with it. Though keeping it a secret from Annabelle had begun to be a bit of a tough feat. The younger blond was nearly as intuitive as the other women in the house for the most part.

Sarrai raised an eyebrow to Valerie before saying. “Oh so not everyone’s happy to see me? Ouch, that stings.” She nodded to Violet. “Nice to officially meet you.” She walked in and paused when she saw Annabelle not ready, she stopped in her tracks before she said. “Please tell me that you aren’t planning on wearing that out on your date night with Casey. If you are, then we have even bigger issues.”

Annabelle looked over when hearing the three women’s voices and upon hearing what Sarrai said she crossed her arms over her chest and said. “I’ll have you know that he’s fine with whatever I choose to wear….or not wear.” She took a deep breath before shaking her head. “Though no, this isn’t what I’m wearing. I have an hour or two before he gets here so I’ll get ready shortly.” She shrugged before giving Sarrai a bit of a suspicious look.

Back in New York City, however this time at Nick Amaro’s apartment, Cassie had barely left her sister’s side since the bombing. She may be a wild one, but the bond between twins was too strong to deny and she wouldn't be herself without Lia being there to help balance her out. It was as if they were two sides of the same coin. She hated to see her other half suffering and she didn’t care that it was as if she was smothering her twin or not, she was doing it.

Cassie had sat there in the living room, as their dad had said good night to Lia. She turned around to rest her arm on the back of the couch as she looked over the back of the couch to the older man. “So…are you back for good?” She asked, wondering if he was going out of town anytime soon. She didn’t want to say it but she wanted him there, wanted him around. She just didn’t quite show it in the way that Lia did by being there for every video chat or phone call.

With Cassie it was a bit different. However, with what had happened she hadn’t had a chance to really have that same father daughter moment as Lia had. She enjoyed life, sometimes a little too much, yes, but enjoyed it all the same. She just didn’t want to get caught up in a sh*t storm and it all wiping away in the course of a moment. “Did Lia finally get to sleep?” It was as if her twin hadn't slept since they got her out of the hospital.

The Present - New Orleans

Annabelle chuckled to Nolan and shook her head before saying in regards to him wanting to surprise her. “I would say so.” She then chuckled at the interaction between Rebekah and Alaric before saying. “Well I’m pretty sure they aren’t shy…except for maybe Nolan here, but I’m sure they could deal with a crash course.” She paused before she said to Alaric. “Alaric come on now, you’re how old? Just make a move already, jeesh.” She paused before smirking as she whispered due to Freya coming back over to them. “Unless you’re the type to want her to make the move instead.”

Barba smiled at the interactions before he hugged Rebekah back. He chuckled as he said. “Hey I’m very proud of my gray hairs, not to mention I've very well earned them.” He smirked before asking. “Besides, does the rugged salt and pepper look work on the ladies?” He asked her, mainly wondering if Olivia cared for the look or not. He then walked over to Nolan as he patted his son’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, she doesn’t bite…well unless it suits her entertainment.” He chuckled before he turned to Rebekah with a sigh and shook her head. “Let's not talk about that right now, shall we?”

Valerie hugged the younger woman before raising an eyebrow at what she said. “A day's drive and hardly anything said?” She looked to Nolan before asking. “I take it was very awkward?” She looked back at Olivia with a sigh before she said. “You and I can have a girl chat about it later, what do you say?” She asked as she looked to Rebekah almost as if expecting her to say something about it.

Annabelle hadn’t even had a chance to ask her mother’s question before Matt had come down the stairs with wet hair, causing her to bite her lip. Oh how she had loved the look of him, especially when he was wet. She felt his arms slide around her and the kiss he placed on her forehead. She tried to hide it but was unable to hide the smile that slid across her face. She was happy, totally and completely happy and at peace there, in his arms. She leaned against him as she said. “Welcome back.” She winked, turned to kiss him sweetly before turning back to her parents and everyone else.

Barba looked at the interaction between Annabelle and Casey before raising an eyebrow. Protective or not, he had to admit that Matthew Casey appeared to be good for Annabelle. Not to mention, he wasn’t sure when the last time he saw Annabelle smile and be that comfortable was. Granted he hadn’t been around to see her with Taron, her other great man love, but according to him, Casey seemed to be all Annabelle needed. He shook Casey’s hand and smiled before saying to him. “Good to see you as well, Casey. I hope things have been going well.”

Annabelle rolled her eyes a bit to her father before asking. “If they weren't, do you think anyone here in New Orleans, or Storybrooke or New York or California or hell anywhere that is protective would’ve let us be?” She said pointedly, in this primary instance meaning in new orleans, but still. She chuckled at what Alaric and Rebekah said and shook her head. “He had to work for a few hours but he should be….” She paused and looked at her watch. “Yeah he should be back to the mansion.”

Annabelle started to nod and agree to take them with her to the mansion, but stopped when Casey moved back away from her. She looked at him with concern and just nodded, letting him go outside to deal with whatever was causing him to feel like that. She looked at Valerie before back to everyone else. “Yeah, I’ll take you to the mansion in a few, once that’s taken care of.”

Valerie raised an eyebrow to Casey before just shaking her head to Annabelle when she looked in her direction as if to say, ‘let him be for right now’. She walked over behind Olivia and Barba as she touched their shoulders. “It’s like looking into a time warp, isn’t it?” She paused before adding. “Just wait until you see one of your grandsons.” She patted their backs and chuckled before sighing as she watched Hope rush back into the bathroom. She shook her head as she looked at Rebekah and her sister.

Barba looked at hope with wide eyes and an open mouth until his mother came up to them. He cleared his throat before nodding. “I guess you could say that.” He said in response to his mom’s time warp comment. He raised an eyebrow to her before swallowing hard, unsure of what to say given the circumstances.

Annabelle sighed as part of her felt torn between hope and Casey. She looked towards the door until she saw Valerie's look, so she decided to take a moment to check on Hope. She heard what hope said about slowly dying and to go away. She chuckled as she shook her head, opening the door as she let Bonnie go in first and then she followed. She shut the door behind her and said. “Lets see here, you’ve been moody, throwing up a lot. I know you’re not bulimic, that’s off the table. Sorry hunn, you just don’t fit the bill.” She chuckled, trying to lighten the mood a bit. “Let's just say you have this type of glow goin’ about you.” She asked straight out, knowing that it's been at least a week or two of the same stuff and she of all people knew it was better to know then not know. “How long has your period been off?”

Valerie, along with Rebekah, who she could guarantee that she could hear what was being said in the bathroom. That just caused her to chuckle and hold up her hands. “Sorry, I’ve uh… gotta see a girl about a test. I mean just going to make sure hope’s alright.” She chuckled again as she walked to the bathroom. She opened the door and walked in before shutting it behind her as she said quietly. “Did anyone tell you that you weren’t the most subtle?”

Annabelle crossed her arms over her chest as she said. “No but they’ve said I’m one of the most blunt, second mainly to Rebekah.” She chuckled as she raised an eyebrow and  c*cked her head to the side.

Valerie heard that and said. “Exactly.” She sighed and then said to Hope. “Did you want to know now? This is your choice and your choice only sweetie.” She said, not going to just tell people to tell them but wanting to make sure that they wanted or needed the answers. Especially family and friends. That was a line that she tried her best not to cross though got blurred every now and then.

The Present - New York City

Cassie got up and shook her head. She ended up getting ready begrudgingly, throwing her hair up in a messy and curly bun. She grabbed her school stuff and walked downstairs to set her bag onto the floor by the couch. However, it wasn’t just her school stuff that were in her bag, it also held a change of clothes that, lets just say, were against the school’s dress code. Afterall, she had her own plans and they didn’t exactly go along with actually attending her classes. Hearing what Lia told her brought her to roll her eyes as she sat down and poured some milk into her cereal. She leaned forward towards her twin sister. “And do you know what your problem is? You play things too safe all the time, miss goody two shoes.” She said playfully before shrugging when she heard her sister say ‘point made’ upon Fin knocking at the door.

Fin had a bad feeling, though he hadn’t known what it was coming from. However, he pushed it back when he was with the three children. He smiled to Noah and ruffled his hair. “I heard she was going out of town.” He paused an raised an eyebrow to Lia as he chuckled. “And here I thought Anna was the one that inherited the matchmaking quality.” He winked to her playfully though wishing he had been the one going instead. However he knew why they left together and that it was only right that the other man were able to be to his children’s birthday.

Cassie piped up as she finished her cereal. “Don’t mind her, she’s in the ‘lets butt into everyone’s business’ mode.” She winked playfully and chuckled to her sister. She raised an eyebrow as she said. “Atleast they died having a good time.” She blew a kiss to her twin and then shook her head. “Why is everyone so excited for school, I mean seriously?” She said, not having given up on the idea of a party, even with Fin telling her that they all needed to be present for the video chats with her dad and phone calls from their mom, she just had to get creative was all.

Fin raised an eyebrow and then said to Cassie. “I see those wheels turning behind those eyes of yours and home and school is all that’s happening, no friends over, the only time that changes is if you are with one of us, miss take life by the horns.” he threw her own techniques back at her from when she started calling her sister a goody two shoes. He watched as Lia and Noah walked out of the apartment and he paused as he waited for Cassie to join them. “Lets get some spring in that step, Cass.” Once she exited the apartment, he took out his spare key that he had to the apartment and locked it up. “Come on Sassafrass.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulders guiding her to the stairs before he added. “The sooner you go to the school the sooner it’ll be done.” He winked to her and then walked ahead of her.

Fin got out of the building in time to see the girl infront of Lia and Noah. He ran to her and nodded. “This is her apartment, but she’s not here.” He paused and added. “Who got shot? Where did you leave him?” He asked trying to keep the woman talking and most importantly, conscious. There was something about this woman that he hadn’t quite figured out what at the moment, but he wanted to make sure the girl would pull through. However, when he heard her ask if he was Fin Tutuola, he nodded and said, “Yes, I’m Fin Tutuola. Have we met?”

Fin heard what she said next and it made his blood run cold and his heart skip a beat. He nodded as he couldn’t bring himself to say anything in regards to her mention of Lily Rose. There was a name that he hadn’t heard in a long time and one that he tried not to think about. He blamed himself every moment of every day since she disappeared 19 years ago. Even if others had forgiven him, even Olivia, he never could. Infact it played a part as to why he couldn’t let himself be happy with Olivia or allow himself to even try to get back with her fully. Now she has returned and it struck every part of him and it filled him with such a rage that he hadn’t felt in a long time seeing her in this condition and hearing what she had been able to bring herself to say.

Fin quickly moved to where he caught Violet in his arms as tears came to his eyes from overwhelming emotions both the good and the bad. He said with a voice thick with emotion. “Don’t worry I’ve got you.” He said as he started rocking back and forth with her passed out in his arms. He whispered out. “I won’t let you go again.” Pausing before adding. “Sweet sweet bunny.”

Cassie looked around, wondering if she had come over to them at the wrong time or if she should’ve stayed in the building a little while longer. She took a deep breath and walked over to them. However, seeing the look on Fin’s face, it caught her offguard, never having had seen the man showing any other emotion other than worry, anger or rarely joking around, but never with tears in his eyes. She walked up behind him and cleared her throat and when that didn’t get his attention, she reached forward and touched his shoulder. “Uncle Fin… maybe calling for help might work better.” She said, not wanting to unleash the kraken so to speak of his anger but being serious at the same time. That seemed to jolt him out of whatever state he was in before.

Fin snapped back to himself before telling Noah and the girls. “All of you in the back.” He lifted Violet up and carried her to the car, setting her in the passengers seat, knowing that the ambulances would take another 15 minutes before getting anywhere near to where they were. He strapped her in and told the kids. “Buckle in, it’s going to get a bit bumpy.” He turned on his police lights as he started speeding away from the apartment without a care in the world of any rules or laws that he was breaking.

Fin drove for a few minutes before screeching to a halt infront of Noah’s school. He let him out of the car before saying. “Sorry big guy, you can come next time, I promise. Have a good day at school!” He shouted the last sentence as he drove off. When he got to the intersection they hit traffic which told the girls. “Hold on.” He was going to take them with him, he knew he didn’t have the time to go 10 minutes out of the way  just to drop them off to go back to the hospital. He zoomed up onto the sidewalk and drove on it until the next intersection. He braked long enough to make sure it was safe before he sped across the intersection, turning down the next road and hopping into the far lane. He continued on until he pulled the car up to the car park, parking closest to the hospital doors before telling the kids, lets go. He didn’t care if they brought their stuff or not at the moment, but he went around to get Violet out of the car.

Fin picked Violet up and carried her in both of his arms. He leaned forward and kicked the door closed before he nudged his head for the girls to come with him inside. He ran in carrying Violet through the doors to the front dest of the ER. “Help! Someone! Anyone!” He told one of the nurses what happened and that they needed to make her better and not let anything else happen to her before he started pacing back and forth.

Cassie ran into the hospital with her twin and Fin who was carrying another sister that she didn’t know about. She had never seen the other man like this, first crying then outbursts and that’s what concerned her. She looked to her twin sister and took a deep breath, unsure of how to help the older man.

The Present - New Orleans, Louisiana

Valerie Mills was someone who'd been around for a very long time. How long, she didn't exactly remember but it was longer than she cared to admit. Though she had a lot of children and people that she considered to be her children. One trait that seemed to fall upon a fair amount of her children was the tendency to fall for the same woman as other of her children. For it happened time and again. This time was just another time in a sea of times.

Valerie had been up in New York with Annabelle when the entire thing went to shambles up there because of Richard Wheatley and the fact that Rafael Barba had come to represent the man, who was his half brother, under duress she might add. Since then almost everyone had come to terms with it and had forgiven him except the one person Barba needed to forgive him, Olivia Benson, and well a couple others, but she was the primary one for him.

Valerie had just talked to a couple of people in New York, only to find out that Olivia and Barba had spoken very few times since the explosion that happened after the trial. Those conversations primarily were about cases to be worked on. That didn't sit well with her, especially because she knew in her bones that Olivia was supposed to be with Barba as an endgame man. That couldn't happen if they continued with these constant children's games of cold shoulder.

Valerie had a plan up her sleeve that she had been coming up with for about a week and now was the time to act. She walked down the busy sidewalks that lined the French Quarter of New Orleans, coming from one of the shops owned by witches that held the supplies that she needed for the spell she was preparing for. She pulled her phone out, walking towards Alaric's house and called her son.

Rafael Barba had been at his desk that afternoon, doing paperwork. He signed one paper that closed the paperwork on the case that had just been won the morning before. He slipped it onto the closed bin that he had on the top left corner of his desk. Suddenly his phone rang and he looked at the front of it to see his mother's name appear. He let it ring a couple more times before sighing, picking up just before the final ring before sending the call to voicemail. "Hello mother, to what do I owe this honor?"

Valerie heard her son finally answer and sighed heavily, knowing that he almost didn't answer at all. "Now why do you make it sound like I want something?" She chuckled a bit before continuing. "Well, I was calling because it's the triplet's birthday next week and I was planning a special surprise party. I was hoping you, Olivia and Nolan could make it. It would be a shame to not have one of the three guests of honor or their parents for that matter to help celebrate their birth."

Barba gave a look as he sat back in his chair. "I know the boys would enjoy that, but the last time I spoke with Anna, she didn't want us to 'waste our time by coming down there for that when there's calls and video chats', her words exactly."

Valerie sighed and rolled her eyes as she stopped walking in her tracks, underneath a green awning that covered her in shade. "Do you seriously believe that?" She said, speaking as someone who never liked celebrating her birthday and for extremely good reason that had been literally beaten into her. Annabelle didn't have that fear or unease in her eyes when she talked about her birthday. Hell, even the fact that the blond talked about it at all meant that she wanted some acknowledgement of it, so why not a party?

"Look one way or another, this is being thrown, it's already in motion. The question is, do you want to be here with your family and the mother of your children or do you want to stay in your office, hiding away and sulking by yourself like an emo teenage boy?" She said, knowing that he was in his office and knowing that what she said just might get his ass in gear.

Barba heard his mothers bluntness and sighed as he rubbed his head. "I am not doing that, mother." He said with a bit of defensiveness to his tone. He took a deep breath and said, "Fine, I'm not going to say yes or no, but I'll think about it. Does that sound like a fair trade to you?"

Valerie smirked, knowing that what she said struck a nerve so she said with a small nod. "Alright, I can live with that. Just let me know, so I can tell Marcel how many seats to set up with the birthday honor table." She said before she hung up, smiling widely as she walked down the sidewalk again, this time with a bit of a spring in her step.

Barba had been thinking about his conversation with his mother for the hours it took before he could get home. He had a conversation with Nolan at dinner to see if he would be up for going to New Orleans for a couple weeks before finally giving that fateful call to Olivia that night. After that, instead of sleeping, he had packed his stuff up and waited until they would be in the car and heading towards New Orleans before making the call to his mother to let her know that they were on their way.

Odafin Tutuola, or Fin as he was called, had been at home that night and watching some action movie that he didn't even know the name of. Quite frankly he didn't care. This one was one with all action, no plot and nothing drawing in, just a bunch of fights and explosions and not much else. He just needed to watch something that numbed everything out. Tonight was just another lonely night there in his apartment when he heard his cell ring. When he saw that it was Olivia, he picked up straight away with no hesitation. However when he heard why she called he sighed and agreed before the call ended. She had asked that he check in on the kids whenever possible to make sure they were alright because she would be gone for a few weeks...with Barba.

When Olivia arrived at the apartment, Barba was glad that she had decided to come along, though Nolan had rushed to get the door first. He grabbed his stuff as they walked downstairs and to his car. He put his stuff in the trunk before reaching for Olivia's to put in the trunk as well. He then went around to get in the car, with Nolan in the back and Olivia in the passenger's seat. They drove pretty much in silence except the hum of the music in the background. When Nolan started playing with the radio, he let out a large sigh before saying. "Just stop." He looked to his son when he turned the radio off altogether. They had another 10 hours or so to drive, with good traffic and he wasn't in the mood. That was evident from the tension in the car being thick enough to even have a hard time cutting with a knife.

Annabelle had moved back to New Orleans around a year ago, before her husband -as he liked to continuously remind her that they weren't technically divorced and still therefore his- had shown back up to begin with. Since then he's raped Hope and shot Hope. Annabelle felt a responsibility not just to Hope but to everyone and knew that the safest that she had been was there in New Orleans.

Annabelle was sitting with Hope as they were discussing if Hope wanted to have a girls day the following day, everything from mani/pedi's to the movies, throwing in a little shopping and maybe some other things, but instead she received no response except a not now. She received the texts from Nolan as she shook her head before texting. 'Someone needs to lock them in a cage until they f*** it all out.' She looked to Hope and thought that didn't have much for magic powers except when it came to passion, fire and healing, but she noticed Hope being off, all too familiarly.

Valerie had been walking through the house with one of her younger sisters, Freya Mikaelson, when Freya joked about Hope being pregnant. She raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything, especially when everyone gave Freya the look they did just for joking about it. Instead, she raised an eyebrow and chuckled when bonnie asked when Alaric and Freya were going to f*** already and stiffled a small chuckle.

Annabelle saw that and chuckled before clapping at the older man. "Smooth, real smooth. Here I thought you were skilled with the ladies." She watched Freya run to the upstairs bathroom to clean up. The next thing that she knew there was a knock at the door. She looked at who it was and her eyes went wide with both surprise and joy as she got up and hugged her mother, seeing the older woman first. "Mom! It's so good to see you!" Next she saw Nolan, though she was saving him for last, so she went and hugged her father. "Dad! It's good to see you."

Annabelle looked to both of her parents and sort of burst with excitement. "It's been too long! What brings you here? Finally in the same room! I hope in the same car as well?" She then looked at Nolan with a mock upset look before she playfully punched him in the arm. "You could've added to the text, 'Oh by the way we're on our way to see you'" She then pulled her brother into a hug.

Valerie heard the knock and smiled at the door, knowing who it was and glad that they were there. She only faked surprise when the door opened and the three came in. She turned to them and said, "What brings you here?" She leaned forward and hugged her son, grandson and Olivia. "I see you've both finally started talking." She said before hearing Olivia saying defensively to Alaric that they weren't alone. She sighed heavily as she looked between her and her son.

Back in New York City, before his shift, Fin went to Olivia's apartment to make sure the kids were good. He knew the twins were technically old enough, but that only meant more trouble could happen than less. He took checking in on them seriously. Maybe it was because he loved their mother and them so much or maybe it was because of the hundreds of cases that he's seen over the years, or maybe it could be because of the continuous lines of enemies and trouble that seemed to follow the children and their family spanning centuries. He wasn't taking any chances with them, not on his watch. Afterall, Olivia had gone to New Orleans, yes, but Amaro was still out of town as well and couldn't check in on them except for his nightly video chat that he had with them, though it mainly turned into with Lia because Cassie always found herself elsewhere.

Cassidy Amaro, also known as Cassie or the wild twin, had woken up that morning to her radio playing music in lieu of an alarm to wake her up. She heard her twin sister moving around and coming down the hallway to the room. She sighed and pulled the covers over her head so as to try not to be bothered, though it didn't work in the slightest. "Ugh, go away! Leave me alone, Lia!" She said before hearing the 4 magic words that any teenager loved to hear. 'Mom's out of town' That was all she needed to hear before she pushed the blankets back off of her head and sat up. "Mom's outta town?" She asked with a sh*t eating grin on her face. "That's awesome and it's just us 3? Hell yeah!"

Fin arrived at Olivia's apartment around a half hour later, time enough for the kids to all get ready for school. He was planning on taking them on his way to work. He knocked on the door and said. "C'mon, it's me, open the door." Once Noah opened the door since he heard finn's voice, he walked in before closing the door behind him. He took his gloves off, put them in his pockets before grasping his hands together. "Alright, as you probably know, your mom's outta town. I'll be checking in and all of you need to be here for the video chats with your dad." He pointed to Cassie before saying. "Mainly you do because at least Noah and Lia will be." He then said. "Come with me, I'm taking you all to school."

Cassie had gotten ready before hearing the knock at the door, shaking her head when she heard Fin's voice before muttering "seriously?" She saw Noah open the door and heard everything that the older man had said. She rolled her eyes as she realized that he might just ruin all her fun ideas for while mom was gone, like say hosting the party of the year while sending Noah to spend the night at a friends house or something else that she hadn't exactly thought of yet but she was entertaining the idea of maybe having some sexy lovin with a man or a woman over the next few weeks or both. She finished her cereal before saying in a sarcastic tone. "Yay, uncle fin to save the day!"

The Present - New York City, New York

Valerie Gold had looked at Wheatley with a bit of an irritated glance and rolled her eyes at his smartass comments. She then smirked and came back with. “Oh you sure could use a timeout and a beating, though it wouldn’t be a pleasant one.” She gave a look and when Carisi made his comments, she smirked but touched his arm gently as a small warning that right then and there might not be the best place for that. She knew that Wheatley got his rocks off by getting under everyone’s skin and even though everyone else was just adding to his satisfaction, she wasn't going to.

Valerie raised an eyebrow when he turned back to her to continue his comments. “Only in your dreams, D*ck.” She said, using the common nickname for Richard mainly because he was living up to it at the moment. However when it all began to turn again she rolled her eyes but stood there between them with her arms crossed over her chest until Wheatley disappeared from view.

After the others left and Valerie was left standing in front of one of her many sons, she sighed and said. “No, being a d*ck was how you said it and threw his feelings in his face. Besides, you’re kind of biased when it comes to any truth between Fin and Olivia, just saying.” She smirked wickedly when Barba said what he did next and that was when she moved closer to him. “Just remember, it is you and Olivia….until it isn't.” With that she walked off and left him with his own thoughts to stew over what she said and the events of the day.

Later that evening, Valerie had been speaking with her son, Rafael Barba, once things had seemed to calm down a bit. She chuckled and pointed to him playfully. “You never have but if you give up with your tail between your legs then yes you would be.” When he began to protest against her taking his phone from him, she just gave a look with a raised eyebrow before saying in a very motherly tone. “What was that?” When he said keep it for now, she nodded with a smirk and said. “Oh I will.”

Valerie listened to what Barba had said to her about Jacob and Wheatley using Olivia against him and felt a pang of sadness for him and Olivia. She knew all too well what being in those crosshairs can really do to destroy lives, not just the ones intended either. She looked at him with a look of sadness when she reached forward and touched the side of her son's face, rubbing her thumb against his cheek as she looked into his eyes in a comforting manner when he squeezed her other hand. “Trust me, I, of all people, understand.” Her eyes almost glazed over from the memories which she quickly forced back before they overcame her.

Valerie leaned back and rested the hand that was just on his face on his hand that clasped her other one. She swallowed hard as he said that he got that skill from her and forced a smile. “I will say that skill is a blessing and a curse.” She took a deep breath before adding. “As you’re finding out. It takes a toll and can eat away at you until there's nothing left if you let it.” She cleared her throat as she let go of his hand, grabbed her cup and took a large swig of her drink before looking at the liquid in the cup, almost as if in her own world.

Annabelle listened to her mother and swallowed hard. She sighed as she said. “I guess I could see that.” Most of the time she was in her father’s position of doing what it took to save those she loved and she did it no matter the blowback on her. She only knew of one, maybe two people at the time that had done that for her, but she understood without hesitation. Though she had to admit it brought a lot of sadness and loneliness to her life. She swallowed hard and then looked to her mother, slowly nodding. “Doesn’t it count for something at least that he’s doing what he needs to do to keep you safe? I mean, trust me, I don’t want Richard walking around anymore than anyone else does, but maybe he has a plan?” She took a deep breath and shook her head. “I don’t know, I just hate seeing you both so upset and you at him no less.”

Annabelle smiled at her mother’s change of subject as she looked down at the necklace that Olivia had given to her all those years ago, before she had even known the true meaning of the events that day. She smiled as she said. “Of course I kept it. Even before I knew who you were, I could tell that it was important and it’s gorgeous.” She didn’t say that she happened to have been wearing it that fateful day that she lost her virginity to Mathew Casey when she was a teenager. Thankfully she had taken it off before that night arrived back then because she didn’t know if that would alter how she would look at that necklace that held such powerful meaning.

Annabelle looked to OIivia with a bit of a confused look. “You were always an amazing mother though I wish you were able to take us with you that day too. It’s not you that I blame for that, it’s Jacob.” She paused and looked away with a bit of a dark look in her eyes as she said in a quieter, angrier tone. “I blame him for everything. Well most of everything.” She fell silent for a moment before clearing her throat and pushing the darkness away from her mind.

Annabelle looked back to her mother with a warm smile as she said. “Oh I remember, it was some of the best time that I had in my life, even without knowing you to be my mother. It was peaceful, happy, fun….and innocent.” She said the last word knowing that time since then was far and few between and her teenage years were far from innocent. She let her mom change the subject because honestly she was having a hard time too with the memories that had started to flood back to her.

A little later that night after the bomb had gone off and Annabelle sat there disoriented, she looked around before catching sight of her mother coming over to her and she swallowed hard. She said in a quiet rasp. “I’ll be alright.” She gave her mom a confused look when she said that she was sorry. She just responded with. “It wasn’t your fault.” She saw the emts start making their way to her and barely answered them, unable to focus on everything that was going on and everyone coming into the apartment.

Annabelle had started going into a bit of a daze as she sat there. Time seemed to stand still then all of a sudden jump then stand still and jump, so on and so forth. The next thing she saw was her twin brother running to her. She looked at him with a bit of confusion as she asked, in what came out as a raspy whisper that made Nolan have to strain to hear. “Where did you come from?” She asked, not sure if he was really there or not. She couldn’t seem to focus as her vision remained blurry trying to focus on her brother’s face. She said in that same raspy whisper. “It’s alright, I’ll be ok.” Her head felt like it was screaming and every time she moved her head it just made it worse, jolting through her body.

Valerie ran in with Nolan and Barba, letting each of them find their way to the women. She, however, began looking over the room, not just with her sight but with her magic to see what happened, who did it, the full extent of injuries, if there was anything that needed to be done, etc. She made her way to Lia and Noah. She hugged both of them and said to them, “Everything’s alright now. We’ll make sure of that.” She stayed close to them to try and keep them calm, knowing that at the moment it was mainly fear and unease coming from the two of them.

The sad thing was that Annabelle and Olivia, the two who were physically effected by the bomb, didn’t seem to be unsettled at all, only worried about the other. However, Valerie could tell that both women needed to go to the hospital, each for their own reasons. Though she was getting a feeling that they’d still try to refuse. Then something changed in the room and that was when she felt someone attached to her bloodline walk into the room. She knew it wasn’t one of her children but she could still feel the tug on that familial line, but she stayed where she was.

Valerie saw Fin come in and the whole territorial pissing match began again. She sighed and shook her head. When Lia went to get the rabbit and her phone, she had picked Noah up, knowing he didn’t want to be alone as she walked over to the three and said. “Seriously? Haven’t you had enough for one day?” She said it mainly aimed at Barba since he was starting in on Fin and then it just spiraled from there. Quite frankly this entire day had been filled with nothing but fights, bickering and clawing at other people and she was getting irritated especially since they day hadn’t even finished and a bomb had come to Olivia’s apartment with the kids. “If you boys can’t play nice I’ll handcuff you together til you kiss and make up.” She said, smirking a little.

Annabelle smirked and was about to say something, but didn’t get a chance too when she saw her uncle James Wilson come to the apartment. She gave Nolan a look and then looked at Wilson with a sigh. “Aren’t you a ways away away f-from home?” She raised an eyebrow, not even realizing that she started stumbling over her words as she spoke. She forced herself to her feet, swaying but keeping her balance as she looked to nolan. “It's good to see you.” She turned back to Wilson, her world blurring out then clearing for a moment when she blinked but blurring back out quickly after.

Valerie turned to Annabelle and said. “You sit down too little girl.” She said to her granddaughter in an unamused tone. She said to Wilson. “Come on in James, maybe you could help with these two stubborn women here.” She said and looked at the EMTs. “Both of them will go get checked out one way or another.” She sighed heavily and then looked to Noah unashamed for playing the young child card. She smiled at him and took his hand in one of her hands and wrapped the other one around him as he propped up on her hip. “You want Mommy and Anna to go with these nice doctors to make sure they’re ok, don’t you?”

Cassidy Amaro, who also went by Cassie or Cass, had been out partying, which turned into a sort of sleepover with a gorgeous woman that she, honestly, hadn’t even known the name of. She just looked at her as the sexy redhead. She got off the subway and walked up to the surface where she had begun walking home. She pulled her puffy jacket tighter around her as she walked, her leather boots clanking on the pavement. After walking for about 15 minutes, she made it to the apartment building and then up to the apartment. However, the closer that she got, the more she smelled the overwhelming smell of smoke.

Cassie quickened her steps and then came into the apartment behind Wilson as she looked around at the sighed before her. Charred walls, banged up mother and sister, a ton of people from firefighters to Fin and Barba. She cleared her throat and asked. “What the hell happened here? I know I passed the curfew a little bit but this is a bit much.” She raised an eyebrow to everyone from Annabelle and Nolan on the couch to Lia standing on the side of the room to Valerie and Noah to Fin, her mother and Barba to Wilson to all the firefighters and EMTs in between.

The Past - Outskirts of Storybrooke, Maine

Acacia Levine had been best friends with Mary Stewart since before she could remember and if she was honest with herself she would want to be more than that. Yes, she was in love with Mary’s twin brother, Ozo, before he was killed but that wasn’t why. Though the loss of Ozo had cut her deeper than she ever felt and the same went with the loss of her own twin brother, Tyler; both losses happened within a short time frame from the other. Since everything that happened back at the academy, the two women were practically inseparable.

In the past month or so, Acacia and Mary had come to stay with who they thought was Mary’s brother, Will Graham. Mary had begun courting Robb Stark and as Acacia watched the two, the tension kept building between her and Will. When he looked at her, she could feel her heart skip a beat. Whenever they were near it was as if electricity tingled throughout her body. When he touched her, her breath caught in her throat. She hadn’t thought that she would feel like that again. After that, she tried to act as if it never happened, which was easier said than done.

Acacia had been traveling with Mary, Will and Robb towards Aurelia’s house for a birthday celebration. As they walked, Acacia thought back to the day before they left when she finally kissed Will and it was as if all time had stopped. As Mary liked to tease her that she had it bad. She was jolted out of her thoughts when she was nudged playfully by Mary and she cleared her throat. “Walk much?” She said in a playful tone as she had originally been walking behind everyone, lost in her thoughts until Mary backed up to her. She looked at Mary with a bit of a smirk as she said quietly. “So, I take it that things are going well with Robb?” She smiled, enjoying seeing the happiness that flowed off of Mary.

Robb had been courting Mary for a few weeks now and he was so happy he could just soar. Yes, he had been promised to another but that had nothing to do with his choices or feelings, just his family’s arrangements. He loved Mary and he wanted to be with her forever. He was traveling with them to visit who he knew to be his birth mother, from his father discussing it with him before he left home.

The past few weeks had been the happiest of Robb’s life. The only downside was he had been standing up to the overprotective man that he knew to be Mary’s older brother. As Mary slunk back to talk to Acacia, he smiled at her and then continued walking next to Will. “So, Will, are you familiar with where we’re going?” He asked, moreso as trying to make small talk than anything else. He did feel like he had at least established that he wasn’t going to hurt or mistreat Mary and that if he did that Will would come after him, etc. So now he felt like he was in that spot where he was trying to make friends with Will.

Meanwhile back at Aurelia Mills’ house, Aurelia had overheard the interaction between the three kids that had come to live with her as of late. She shook her head as she sat on the couch listening as she acted like she was reading a book. For one, their interactions were almost as entertaining as the stories, which really said something. Also she needed to make sure it didn’t go too far or anything of the like. However, none of them liked her appearing to eavesdrop so she had a system.

Aurelia shook her head and muttered. “Stupid move.” She turned the page of the book as if she was actually reading the thing. Hell she barely knew what the book was about, only what she read on the cover. Once Barba settled in his room and Olivia stormed outside, she threw the book down and got off of the couch. She sighed heavily before she went out the front door after Fin. She used her magic to keep him from leaving the property and then came up behind him with her arms crossed over her chest. “Where do you think you’re going?” She raised an eyebrow.

Aurelia waited for his answer as she made her way over to him and took his suitcase from him and held it behind her back. “Listen to me, you aren’t going anywhere, at least not today. Not on her birthday before her party has even started.” She stepped backwards, refusing to give his suitcase back. “Tomorrow is a different story, but either way, I’m not going to just let you leave with nowhere to go.” She swallowed hard and then took a deep breath before she added. “Fin, I know it’s painful to watch them when you want to be the one with her, but you are someone that she’s even closer to than Raf.”

Aurelia bit her lip before saying. “Honestly it takes a stronger person to wait patiently for an opportunity while still being as close as possible with them than to just go for a relationship.” She shrugged. “Sure its all kind of f***ed up but I never figured you for a coward.” She said before turning around, moving his suitcase to the front of her and then walking back to the house. She put his suitcase down before turning around back to him and grabbing him by the ear. “Since a bit of talking sense into you doesn’t seem to be working.” She pulled him to her by the ear and said in a motherly type tone. “You are going to stay, at least for today and you are going to make today an enjoyable and memorable one for Olivia. Oh and you are going to apologize for being a selfish insensitive prick to her right now. Let's go.”

Aurelia started pulling him back through the house to Olivia’s room where she knew she had been. She let go of Fin’s ear to push him forward in front of Olivia. “Now, Fin, what do you say?” She crossed her arms across her chest again. She needed this situated before everyone began arriving. She took a deep breath, knowing that people were going to start piling in soon.

Flirting with Disaster.

Valerie looked to Fin and raised an eyebrow as she said. “I couldn’t agree more that Wheatley’s a snake and snakes need to be taken care of and sometimes the law isn’t the way to go about it.” She said pointedly. “Sometimes it’s better to handle certain things under the radar. That type of opportunity.” She left it at that before turning and watching what happened infront of their eyes.

Valerie walked with them as she looked to Barba with a sigh. She shook her head and said. “You know what you should’ve done.” She said, knowing what this all felt like to her at the moment and not liking it a single bit. She gave a bit of a glare to Wheatley as she followed behind everyone. She knew better than to jump the gun too much, especially when it had to do with anything Fielding related, so she watched and listened for the moment.

Valerie looked to Fin with what he said in regards to his lashing out about Barba and raised an eyebrow. “You of all people should be able to see the truth in it. What power would he really get by defending Wheatley? None other than a clearance with the organizations, to which other than Wheatley, doesn’t really have a base in New York. As for money, there’s not much that they can offer that he hasn’t had opportunity for before, from others.” She said as she started thinking and glanced towards Barba and Wheatleys interaction. She swallowed hard before looking to Fin with a small smile. “No offense taken. Just look at all the angles before passing judgement is all I ask.” She wasn’t a stranger to having children turn for the worst and become evil, it had happened a few times. This with Barba defending Wheatley, wasnt that. Worst came to worst it was a lapse in judgement, though more than likely had to do with protecting someone; her guess was Olivia. That’s why she said the last thing she just said to Fin, knowing that he would do the exact same thing to protect Olivia and that he loved her in his own way for decades, whether he’d say or do anything about it or not.

Valerie’s eyes went wide in a protective manner as she ran forward when seeing Wheatley addressing Olivia. She was making her way to get inbetween them. “I’m sure you could try but you wouldn’t get to keep that jaw to make the smart ass comments with.” She said firmly as she moved herself between Olivia and the others from Wheatley and his goons. She lowered her head to meet Wheatley’s gaze as he looked Olivia up and down. “The trial’s over and it would do you well to go on your own way…away from here.”

Valerie couldn’t help but smirk when she heard Fin’s comment about Wheatley poisoning his ex wife and gave a look that could possibly be taken as amusement or even intrigue towards the other man before looking back to Wheatley, acting as if it never happened. She kept her stance to give enough time and space for the others to get to the car. However, it kind of ended up biting her in the ass, but she tried. She saw the commotion by the cars and rolled her eyes, muttering  colorfully to herself as she made her way over there as well. “Smooth move Raf, real smooth.” She said sarcastically as she hit him in the back of the head. She watched Fin drive everyone off, giving everyone some space to cool off away from the mother of the man they were all pissed at as she looked to her son with a bit of a glare. “That was cruel to say and was unwarranted and you know it! Sure they were lashing out at you, but can you blame them? You didn’t have to be a d*ck.” She shook her head and stormed off towards the subway entrance, going to take it to her car that she left over by the Police station when they all came together.

Later that day as Valerie had waited for Barba to open his door she shook her head. “Who are you kidding? Just let me in already.” When she saw his face and heard his comeback, she shook her head and chuckled. “I guess I asked for that one.” She saw the look on his face and sighed as she was going to say something but stopped for a moment. She reached over to give him a hug for a moment before pulling away. “Honestly a bit of a lecture with a bit of trying to ease the pain of it all in only a way that I could.” She smiled a little bit before saying. “I’m not going to play the whole ‘why’d you defend him’ game that everyone else is upset about because I know you wouldn’t have made that decision lightly.”

Valerie sat down and nodded as she said. “Something to drink would be perfect.” She took a deep breath and reached out to take the drink. “Thank you.” She said before she took a few sips and swallowed hard when he admitted that he didnt know what to do. She leaned forward, set her cup on the coffee table and propped her elbows on her knees as she looked at her son as he looked so hopeless and hurt. “There’s only way to start, that’s by giving them time to cool off while continuing to try from a bit of a distance at first then closer. You continuously trying to get some sort of contact with olivia is honestly just going to hurt your case. She needs to think it over, cool off and try to come to terms with it before you try to force the reasoning at her because right now she’s not going to be able to see or hear any of it.”

Valerie paused before grabbing her glass, taking a sip and leaning back in the chair as she continued. “As for Fin, Elliot and everyone else, give them a couple days because if you show up right now without a real good reason, you’re liable to get your ass kicked, especially by the guys. You stand a better chance trying to talk to everyone except Fin and Elliot first. Elewise you’re liable to get your ass kicked…badly.” She took a deep breath before saying firmly. “The only way that you’ll truly loose them is if you give up like a coward and if it’s one thing that none of my children are and that’s a coward. Especially if you really do have any sort of feelings for the others like i know you do.” She looked at him just as firmly. “Don’t you dare just give up and lie on your back like a little bitch!”

Just as Valerie said that, the door opened and she raised an eyebrow to her grandson Nolan who didn’t seem to realize that she was even there. She looked to him and nodded as she said. “It’s alright, just visiting for a bit.” She smiled when he kissed her cheek. She watched the interaction before raising and eyebrow and nodding to Nolan discretely to get him to just go upstairs. She rubbed her head when he questioned barba and bit back a chuckle. Once Nolan went upstairs, she looked to her son and then said. “You know he’s right and that’s what everyone else is thinking.” She got quiet for a long moment before saying quietly, to keep Nolan from overhearing. “I know your father and everyone that is like him, like Wheatley, and other types. Do you know what they all have in common? Exploiting the goodness of others and who those others care about. I’m not stupid and Ive been around a long time and seen my fair share of things. This is just another game for them to see how far they can push you and just how much you care about Olivia and the kids. When you try again to explain yourself, which I know you better, start with that.” She cleared her throat and took a drink, not saying anything for the moment as her thoughts traveled.

A small smile crept to Valerie’s face as she nodded to him. “I know you love her. You love her with everything that you are.” She reached forward to touch the side of her son’s face. She looked to him sweetly and shook her head. “Nothing’s wrong with you and you are far from stupid.” When she saw him check his phone again, she shook her head and grabbed his phone from the table and put it in her bra. “It’s for your own good and I know you’re not gonna get it from there. If someone calls or texts with something important I’ll give it to you but beating yourself by checking your phone every couple minutes isn’t going to help you. Plus its very annoying.” She smirked to him with a shrug.

Annabelle had looked to her mom when she had said that she wasnt good company. Raising an eyebrow, she watched her mom fiddle with the book before looking at her. She nodded and listened. She cleared her throat and said. “I know.” Knowing that she gave her eavesdropping away in that moment but she also didnt care because she hated seeing her parents hurting so badly. It was like it was coming off of them in tidal waves. “But what if it wasn’t a done deal? What if the reason he had for doing it was a really good one? What if he was trying to save you?” She wasn’t sure if what she was saying had to do with her own history with the man she had loved, Matt Casey, whom she hadn’t seen in years, or if it was because it was really what was going on.

Annabelle knew better than most what anyone in Jacob Fielding’s family was capable of, especially with any type of control like Wheatley. She just feared being found there, wanting to hold onto every ounce of happiness that she had. It was one of the other reasons that she refused to go anywhere near the courthouse that day because the risk was too high. Little did she know that they already knew she was living in New York. She cleared her throat and looked to her mother as she reached over to touch the necklace that her mom was fiddling with, as her own necklace slid from underneath her shirt that her mother had given her when she was 11. She looked into her mom’s eyes with a small, caring smile and a shake of her head. “It’s not over. Your mad and hurt now, but that doesn’t mean its over.”

When the door opened, Annabelle leaned back on the couch with a smile when her younger sister Lia as she liked to be called, entered the apartment. She raised an eyebrow and said playfully. “Just a little nippy.” She chuckled and raised an eyebrow as she said. “I guess I am getting old, here I would’ve thought that I would’ve been the one getting laid, not Cass.” She chuckled and raised an eyebrow. “Better not be where I booked or else.” She pointed at Lia as she said that playfully. She honestly didn’t care where her sister had a gig, the town was big enough for both Bensons to go around the town. She wrapped an arm over her sisters as she was hugged from behind. She raised an eyebrow at Lia’s segway into Amaro being in town as she shook her head. “Enjoy your date with daddy.” She winked playfully and sighed as she looked back to Olivia.

Annabelle had been about to say something when the phone rang. She watched her mother’s body language and she instantly became alert and uneasy. All it took was for her to hear her mom say Wheatley and she put her feet down off the couch and leaned forward, ready to run to get the other kids if need be as her mom spoke on the phone with him. However when her mom said to stay on the couch, she slowly nodded and stayed silent as she leaned back against the couch, trying to force her body to relax which didn’t work in the slightest.

Annabelle watched her mother’s movements like a hawk and before she knew it a huge bang came from the trashcan and she only had time to cover her eyes as her body was knocked forward towards the coffee table. She bumped her head on the corner and her ears rang but other than that she was alright. She laid there for a moment trying to get her barings. She called out. “Mom, you alright?” She slowly sat up and coughed at the amount of smoke in the room. She could swear that from a distance she could hear Noah crying and Lia saying something but she couldn’t quite make it out. Little did she know that she hit the table a bit harder than she thought with her head not only having one hell of a goose egg but also bleeding from the same spot.

Valerie all of a sudden saw Nolan run back downstairs to grab his coat at the same time that she had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. “We need to go to Liv’s.” Was all she said. She got up went and followed Nolan to the door. “Come on, I’m driving.” She said as she made her way down to where her car was and unlocked it, waiting on them to get in. She cleared her throat and said. “Lets go.” Once they were in she drove off to Olivia’s, swerving inbetween cars and even on the sidewalk at one point because she knew she just needed to get there fast. Once they got there, she got out and ran through the apartment building up the elevator and to the door. She tried to open it but it was locked. She started banging on it, smelling the smoke from inside. When no one opened the door she just used her magic to disappear from outside to inside the apartment. She unlocked the door to let nolan and barba in as she watched her grandson run to annabelle and barba run to Olivia. All she could do was give a small smile before she went to where there were still flames from the explosion and used her magic to clear the flames. Next she went to check on the other kids and make sure they were alright, leaving them alone.

Flirting with Disaster.

Dec 17th 2021 - 10:10 PM

Annabelle Katya Fielding had come to New York a couple years ago after finding her biological parents and to try to keep from having to go back to her father or her farce of a fiance. Little had she known before that, that her biological father was one of her adopted brother’s. Now that Annabelle was there, she was starting to find happiness again. She didn’t know how long it would last, but she was going to enjoy every moment of it while it was there.

That morning, Annabelle had grabbed her guitar and her jacket before heading out to her car. She knew that Olivia, her biological mother whom she had been living with the past couple of years, and Rafael Barba, her biological father, had a day that was going to take a toll on them. She wasnt sure if she should even go to the courthouse that day, so she focused on booking a gig at the bar down the way. She knew that she was under 21 but she figured that she could still play and worst came to worst, there was always her fake ID. She booked the gig and drove around until it was time to pick up her brother.

Around 2pm, Annabelle received a text from Olivia asking her to pick Noah up and she sighed and muttered to herself. “I guess.” She rubbed her head. She drove to the preschool to pick him up and saw, what seemed to be, waves of parents, teachers, children all come making their way through to cars and busses that had lined the parking lot. As she sat there, waiting for her brother to get brought out, she started getting a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. All she knew was something was wrong. She would soon find out that it was a huge wrench to her parents relationship and the closeness of certain people that could very well lead to the beginning of the end of her happiness. Wheatley and his goons. She knew her dad wouldn’t knowingly bring Jacob Fielding to New York but his brother Wheatley was a major wildcard.

Infact, there was little in the world that instilled any type of fear from Annabelle, and when she was drunk those few things were even less. The two things that always caused fear on a certain level to course through her veins were Darien Black and Jacob Fielding. Even then it wasnt so much to do with what they would do to her, though that played a part in it to an extent, it was what they would do to the people she loved and cared about.

Later that night, Annabelle had been in her room strumming on her guitar and humming as she was trying to work out her newest song that she wanted to add to her set in the next show. She continued strumming to keep the background noise going as she started eavesdropping on her parents conversation, both to eachothers faces and through the door. She waited until he was gone and Noah was put to bed before she cracked her door open and slunk into the hall.

Annabelle watched as her mother ignored the call and bit her lip, staying there until she heard what Olivia said to her. She chuckled and walked out over to her mom and sat on the other side of the couch. She slid onto it with her feet next to her and her leaning against the arm of the couch. She looked to her mom and sighed before saying. “What’s going on between the two of you? I don’t think Ive ever seen you this upset at dad before.” She swallowed hard and made sure that she didn’t say that last sentence too loud.

Meanwhile, Valerie Mills, who had come into town for the trial and to be there for everyone, knowing that she would be needed. She sat through the trial, just shaking her head and biting her tongue as she caught everything that was going on and it wasn’t pretty. She rubbed her head and waited for it to be over. Once it was she sat in the seat, watching as every single person walked out before her, trying to read each and every one of them. She didn’t trust this. There was something more going on there that wasn’t being said. She closed her eyes and let her magic spread out through the room and following all the people that left and when it picked up on the interaction that wasn’t going well. She sighed and muttered colorfully under her breath.

Valerie finally grabbed her stuff and walked out. First she went to where Elliot and Rollins were and rubbed her head as she said. “I get it but maybe with him being out, it gives the option for other opportunities.” She looked at him and shrugged as she left it at that. She was usually neutral and she still was, but she was also trying to ease the tensions between them all. She shrugged and then walked over to the other three, about to reach for Olivia as the other woman stormed passed her. She shook her head and rubbed her temples. The last moment she stopped by Barba and Wheatley. She raised an eyebrow at their interaction but didn’t go to say anything, mainly because she was proud that Barba was handling his brother pretty well on his own.

Later that night after Valerie had relaxed a bit in the hotel room, she went to Barba’s house knowing that she needed to try and get Olivia and Barba to atleast talk again and mend some fences if not straddling and riding the fences out. She swallowed had as she knocked on Barba’s door and couldn’t help but chuckle at what he said when he answered it. “I guess you could say I’m dying…as are we all.” She chuckled as she said. “Come on Raf, open the door.” After a few moments, she added. “I’m not going anywhere and you know I just come in, I’m just giving you the courtesy.” She smirked and waited for a few minutes and was about to pop herself in there but stopped when he opened the door. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?” She walked in and set her purse down on the coffee table before taking a seat in one of the soft chairs. She looked to Barba with a deep breath. “Holding up that well, huh?”
