“Hold on just a little longer. I can already hear the sirens.Mackenzie couldn’t believe that this was happening. Who would want to hurt her grandmother? Sure she could be a bxtch and she and Mackenzie clashes on almost everything, but at the end of the day, Victoria Winters had always been there for the younger female. Mackenzie had blamed her grandparents for the death of her younger sister for so long, but that blame was severely misplaced and Mackenzie knew that. They had just tried to help; doing what they believed was best for their grandchildren - what they had been told was best by their church priest and the bible. It wasn’t though but Mackenzie had come to terms with the fact that she’d never be able to convince her grandparents of that. They were set in their ways and she had no option but to accept that.

With tears rolling down her cheek, Mackenzie kept the sweater pressed firmly against her grandmother’s stomach. There was so much blood and it made her feel nauseous, but she had watched enough hospital shows to know that she needed to keep pressure applied to the wound in order to stop her grandmother from bleeding out. “They are nearly here, Granny,” she whispered as her grandmother’s eyes slowly closed. “No, please, you need to stay awake.Please...please..” she sobbed uncontrollably. This wasn’t how she was supposed to lose her grandmother. “Are you happy, now?!” She screamed, slowly looking up and locking eyes with an older woman. She was a younger version of the woman bleeding on the floor but an older version of her granddaughter. “Are you happy now, mom?!”

“Out of the way!” Hearing the voice behind her, Mackenzie quickly moved, allowing the paramedics to do their job. Her hands were covered in blood but all she could think about was her grandmother and if she would be okay, and the fact that it was her mother who had done this. “If she dies, then so will you!” Mackenzie spat as she followed the paramedics out to the ambulance. Once they had got her grandmother in, Mackenzie climbed in and slowly turned, watching the police walk out with her mother in hand cuffs. “I hate you!” she screamed, more tears falling down her cheeks as the ambulance doors were closed and she got one final look at her mother. She had done so much to her and now? Now she was about to be responsible for her grandmother’s death too. Her grandmother wasn’t perfect and she had a lot of issues with her, but she was still the only one who’d ever been there for Mackenzie and now she was terrified that she was about to lose her for good.
