In a time long ago, the Earth truly was young and burgeoning with life. The stories of Silas, Qetsiyah and Amara had yet to be told. This was more than a mere man; he was one of the princes of the Earth. His hair was the color of sunlight and his eyes were the color of the sky. His name was Lamech and he was a son of the Father of Murder Cain.

Lamech had a temper that was explosive and deadly. As a child, he had killed one of the goats in his father's herd merely for the fact that he was bored and wanted to watch the animal squirm as it died. Darkness surrounded the child. Darkness became a part of who the child was. Darkness was always deep within the soul of the child who soon became a man.

Whispers were often spoken in secret about Lamech as he grew to become a young man. Some told of the atrocities committed by Prince Lamech speaking of a demonic appearance completed with some reports of thick wings that resembled those of a peregrine falcon that came from his back. Fear and trepidation rose in ranks of the servants of the House of Cain. The first murderer had other children as part of his house. Lamech was merely more evil perpetrated upon the earth that could never be stopped, or could it?

When the young prince was on the brink of manhood, a would-be assassin crept into Lamech's tent as he slept. Under cover of darkness, this man sought to eliminate evil from their midst. The previous night had seen a grand celebration of the young prince's birthday. He would be leaving the protection of his father to take a portion of the herd and the servants to go his separate way. This man's daughter was selected to serve as a concubine to Lamech. Rather than let his daughter suffer, he sought to kill The Prince. This was his last chance.

Lamech was laying upon a pile of pillows made from the linens of the finest of materials. Having imbibed much of the wine in the storehouse, the man who crept was sure The Prince was thoroughly intoxicated. Digits curled around the hilt of this blade tighter. He steeled his reserve as he crept in closer. This brave yet foolhardy man sought to save his daughter from the curse of the house of Cain and being at the whims of this young monster, Lamech. Lamech still had barely moved bringing in the heartbroken father closer to him. When he was finally within reach, the assassin raised his hand overhead with a copper dagger gleaming and ready to find the black heart of the monster.

There was a repulsive sound that soon penetrated the air. The look of abject horror was etched onto the face of the man who sought to kill The Prince. Lamech was wide awake much to the horror of his would-be assassin. The Prince's right hand had penetrated the chest of the man standing over him. In Lamech's hand he felt the beating muscle he knew would bring life or death to any creature. "Well, look what we have here…" Delicious evil spread over the countenance of The Prince as he kept his hand inside the man's chest. "It would appear that someone is not happy with his daughter's destiny."

The man coughed and sputtered blood with each breath. "P-p-please my Prince. M-mercy I beg you." The color began to fade more from the man's face as Lamech tightened his grip. The screams of agony of the man only seemed to excite Lamech more. The darkness in his soul was spreading.

"Mercy? You beseech me for mercy?" Lamech's sardonic smile was horrifying. He enjoyed making the man suffer. "You wanted to kill me. Why should I show you mercy? You are nothing but a worm." He hissed before finally contracting the muscle of his right arm. Lamech removed the heart from the man as he enjoyed the sight of the man's eyes rolling back into his head in the throes of death.

The sound of the man's body followed by his heart hitting the ground brought in several male attendants to The Prince. "Clean up this mess and put him on display as a warning to those who would oppose me." He moved toward a female servant who had entered to provide water for him to wash his bloodied hand.

"Yes my Prince. And this man's daughter?" Asked the armed guard curiously.

Lamech stood there long enough to allow the female servant to clean his hand. He pondered the question while admiring the beauty of the woman attending to him. "One cannot have children from a concubine with such treacherous roots. Kill her." He told the guard with a nonchalant attitude. He slid a finger under the chin of the female tending to him. He admired her beauty immensely. "You will take her place." The girl nodded in obedience to The Prince and was led away by the guards.

Once left alone, a shrouded figure entered his tent. By the general build of the figure, it was not hard to know that the figure was female. "Lamech, you walk a dangerous path." She spoke to him. "You should learn from your father's mistakes."

Lamech was unflinching. "Who says I'm not already learning from them, Grandmother?" A smirk turned the corner of his mouth upward in a crooked grin.

She lowered her hood. It was indeed Eve the mother of Cain that stood there with him. "One day there will be one that captures your heart so much that you will be willing to give up everything for her. Your destiny is intertwined with hers, yet in the end you will lose everything and her."

Lamech seemed amused by what he saw as his grandmother's ranting. "There is nothing I can do but watch as I run headlong into oblivion then is there?"

"Remember these words someday Lamech. When you stand over the body of your soulmate as she has left you to walk with God, you will remember what I have said to you." Eve reported despite the unbelief of her grandson.

It would be another decade when one had enraptured his heart and borne him two children. Her name was Adah and she was his Desert Flower. For now however, the Legend of the Dark Prince had begun.
