Being in the body of another man always felt a little bizarre to Klaus Mikaelson. He still had his powers of compulsion even if he was in the body of another man. It was tricky when it came to him. The rules didn’t always fit him and he knew it. Klaus depended on it. He had much to do and time was still working against him. He had to have this look at the competition. The doppleganger and her friends were going to give him trouble, but the one that truly worried him was the Bennett Witch.

He casually strolled down the hall in the body of Alaric Saltzman. He was getting greetings and nothing out of the ordinary when he was making his way toward his classroom. Everyone loved Mr. Saltzman. That was definitely going to work in his favor. He met up with a pair of students that were talking outside the classroom. “Hey there, you both know Elena Gilbert right?” He asked with Alaric’s voice.

“Sure we do Mr. Saltzman. Everyone knows Elena.” It was a young man and a young woman who nodded happily. They were just two regular kids in between classes as Mystic Falls High not bothering anyone when they were approached by the devil in disguise.

Klaus started using his power of compulsion. “The next time you see Elena, you’re going to tell her that Klaus is anxious to meet her at the dance tonight. He’s got a surprise for her.” The children being compelled had blank looks on their faces as the compulsion was imprinted on their minds. “Good. Carry on. You won’t remember talking to me. You will only remember the message for Elena.” Moving away from them, he walked into the classroom where Saltzman taught the youth of Mystic Falls.

A sardonic grin curled his lips. The classroom was full and the kids were all muttering to themselves. The smell of teen spirit was almost nauseating to Klaus. He tried to keep up the appearances of being their alcoholic teacher. He wasn’t going to need to be in his body for a long time anyway. He was going to have to be in his actual body to perform the ceremony to break the curse. The blood was going to flow and he didn’t care. These people meant nothing to him. They were children. He inhaled sharply and made his way inside the classroom.

“And what a fine day it is today, don’t you think?” Several of the students in the room were giving him an odd glance here and there. Klaus arched an eyebrow and began to visually scan the room. Saltzman was a history teacher. He figured that he had better start talking about history pretty quickly. These eager young minds were here to discuss the events of the past ages of time. He had lived modern man’s history so he didn’t need any sort of degree to speak on items or events of the past, Klaus had lived it. “The 1920s had their share of exciting events to catch the attention of the casual observer.”

A student in the middle of the congregation of these children had called out to him. “Since the Decade Dance is going on tonight, we were going to talk about the 1960s, Mr. Saltzman.” Puzzled looks on many of their faces had told Klaus that he was not blending in very well at all as their teacher. He was distracted for a moment as his eyes beheld the doppleganger as well as a blonde friend that was obviously a fledgling vampire and then there was the Bennett Witch herself.

The Lockwood boy was in the class as well. A fledgling vampire and a newly turned werewolf was going to play right into his plans for the ritual that he was going to have to perform. They weren’t powerful enough to put a damper in his plans. The doppelganger couldn’t stop him either. She was just a girl of the Petrova line. He could move in and take the three of them with no trouble at all right now if he wanted to, but it wasn’t the time to do it. He had a plan that had to be followed. He had his allies in place that could easily subdue the three of them. The witch however was going to be an issue on her own. It was simple enough, he was just going to have to kill her to remove her from the picture.

“Ah yes, the 1960s.” The faux Alaric leaned forward and laced his fingers on the desk itself. “They were rather boring really. The moonshot actually was of some interest after all. You can all read about it later, I’m sure.” His undertones were casual and with some disdain. His opponents didn’t look like much to behold in the first place. “You’re all young and have so much of your lives ahead of you.” He made eye contact with Elena Gilbert when he finished his sentence. Death was coming for her and that instrument of Death was sitting across from her behind a desk wearing the body of another man.

The faux Alaric sat back in the chair. He glanced into the sea of confused faces that were looking back at him. “You look like you’ve never heard anything about the 1960s before.” He slapped the desk with both hands. He pushed up with both hands and to a standing position. “I think we’re done here.” Klaus glanced at them all with that leering glance of a wolf that had just sized up his prey from its place of hiding. He said nothing. He simply just walked out the door.

He continued down the hall and past the two students he’d compelled earlier. So he wasn’t that good at hiding in another man’s body. It was just so much easier being himself no matter where he was. White teeth began to show when the faux Alaric started laughing to himself. Now to watch the children scatter.
