Yes, it's a femme. And her name is Sunfire. But one of the cables linking her to me is kinked. That's why she's so small. Half her energy and energon intake is cut off right now. Jem's got a way to fix it though, and she'll be okay after that. But we got to get it done before anymore damage happens and the sooner the better so she's got a better chance. If Jemini asked for help she'd help but otherwise, she wasn't near as skilled as she was so she was not going to get in the way.*

I don't want to take the chance of her little systems going into shock if you open my chamber up. I don't want to loose her and if she goes into shock at her size, she's too early to deliver. But with the laser, she might knot up the cable even worse or do it to others and make things worse and it could still shock her systems if she's not getting what she needs from me and still would have to be delivered early and still the risk of loosing her that I am not allowing to happen. The laser seems the lesser of the two risks though.

I was afraid she was too small...and Jem found the reason why. One of the main energon cable lines from me to her is kinked. It's blocking her from getting what she needs from me to grow to full size for full term. There's two ways Jem knows to fix it but both require surgery of different kinds and risks but one or the other has to be done. One is by laser, which won't open her chamber but she might try to get close to the laser because of the heat and may damage the cable again or others if she does or worse and it's painful and takes longer. The other is to open me and let Jem do it by hand but it would expose the baby and she is so small that it could shock her systems, and I'm terrified what it might do. I don't want to loose her.

{Megara watched as Jemini paced between monitors and readouts. She knew the femme well enough to know what she was doing. She was going over and over everything to make sure she wasn't missing something, not just because it was her and Jemini had been Megara's long time best friend since Meg was just a little older than Nova when Jem came to the base, but because that's how Jem was as a medic. Plus there was a sparkling at risk, and Jem was a huge softie when it came to the younglings, no matter whose they were. Megara sat going over and over Jem's words in her processor....thinking, going over the risks and things that could be done, feeling helpless for letting this happen to their sparkling to begin with. She should have come sooner, if she'd not done this or that, it'd not have happened, blaming herself, so worried the shock on Sunfire's systems would do more harm than help.}

*Jemini could see the fear and worry in the optics of Meggie and Sunstorm, as much as the medic femme loved bringing sparklings into the universe it always hit her when she had to deliver bad news to a family, she watched quietly as the looks on Nova and Pyro's faceplates changed from happiness and joy to sadness and concern, it affected her even more because she cared about Meggie's family deeply, she turned away to look into a different monitor for the readouts, she needed a moment to regain her focus, to take herself out of the equation and let the medic in her take control, it didn't matter which procedure they chose, she had expertise in both, her only worry was her emotions blinding her in some way and she would miss a small but critical detail and that mistake would cost Sunfire or Meggie their lives.  Once Jemini's focus returned all these self-doubts were dismissed, she knew what she had to do and mistakes were for rookies. She turned back to her original monitor and continued scanning through the readouts while waiting Megatron and Shockwave to arrive. *

Like I said there are two ways...and both involve risk....the first way is to use a heated laser scalpel it works by bypassing your armor and working directly on the effected area underneath, you would not feel anything on the surface but the discomfort within the area I have to work on would be painful and uncomfortable and because of the delicate situation I can't give you anything to ease the pain Meggie...but that's not all....I don't know if the two of you know but sparklings are attracted to heat...the laser I use works with heat in order to reshape the kinked cable...there is a chance that the little one could shift towards the laser...my concern is not that I would damage her with the laser it's that in her desire to move towards it she kinks more of those cables and we would be back to square one...in addition the procedure takes time but the alternative although quicker carries some substantial risks of it's own.....the alternative is that I open up your midsection and I unkink the cable myself....with Sunfire being the size she is the opening of your midsection could be too much of a shock on her systems but it would be quick and far less painful to you Meggie....I have done both procedures successfully in the past but every sparkling is different so I leave the decision up to the two of you.

*She had become distracted looking for the codes on the readout for Sunfire before she heard Sunstorm call her name, she looked up and moved the point that the monitor was viewing to a different area, her optics taking it in before she answered*

Meggie has reason to be concerned...I waited for the readouts because I wanted to be sure...

*She points up at the monitor*

Do you see how the cables all line up , from Megara to Sunfire? If you look at the last one there in a kink in it....the Sunfire is not getting all of the energon from Megara that she needs to grow to a proper size....I can fix it and there are two ways I can go about doing it ...but both have their own set of risks...

It's nothing Sunfire is fine. She is a late bloomer that's all You'll see.

Remember the other night I told you that I felt like this carrying was a lot smaller than Nova and Pyro's? And that I'd felt movement, but just the internal, swirl and somersault movements, not full or visible kicking or moving that you could see or feel yet either. It had been fine but then the past cycle or so I should have gained a lot and seen a huge difference but I haven't. I'm well past halfway point, I should be twice this size, and complaining that I feel huge, not that I don't feel big enough. I know femmes are small, but not this small. We've seen her now and know she's alright but the size worries me.

*Jemini couldn't help but tear up a bit as she watched Sunstorms reaction to his little one, then hearing the name he had chosen she smiles warmly, although her job could often be difficult it was moments like this that made it worth it as she watched her best friends loving family all together, enjoying this special time., she turned away for a moment to wipe the tears out of her optics*

*The medic femme couldn't help but pick on Sunstorm, she felt he was gone so long that she needed to catch up on her teasing of him, then she went into medic mode as she stood next to the med table*

Alright missy....you know the drill...I just need to connect the main computer to your systems so we can see how the little one is doing,

*She gently picks up the computer cables and begins placing them on the proper spots on Megara's midsection*

~Nova skipped over to the desk and fished around in the goody jar for a minute after having to let go of her Aunt, and was slowly wandering back while the adults were talking. She passed by tables and shelves of stuff, peering into a line of jars with various liquids, some with things floating in them, some not, munching on the flavored energon candy stick she'd gotten.~

And I can't leave him 'stumpy'. How would he hold the sparkling or get up in the middle of the night with it to feed it? Oh no, he gets it fixed...or I'll never get any rest!

*She usually loved to bug Pyro with a kiss attack to his little head but she resisted as he asked her where the goodies are, she smiles and lets him go to then points to her desk*
The jar is freshly stocked so help yourself.
*She smiles at Meggie knowing she was going to be sending him home with a sugar high*
before you say anything...aunties are allowed to spoil their nieces and nephews....there is a law about it...somewhere.....on some data pad...that I don't have with me at the moment but it's there!

I don't know meggie...I think if you crush his hand we should just leave it like that and start calling him stumpy!
