It had been three nights now that Carolie had been in this human world. She had been wandering the streets those nights and days and could feel the grime coating her once perfect skin. She wasn't used to the grime and crime and just sadness that permeated this realm. Back home their skin glistened and shone like moonlight rippling over water and they bathed with sweet liquids ripened from flowers and braided the remaining flowers into each others hair. As these thoughts floated through her weary mind, a tear fell down her cheek, cutting a line through a smear of dirt upon her cheek. She went to swipe it away but merely smeared the dirt on her cheek. A weary sigh escaped her pink lips as she crossed her arms across her stomach hugging herself.
She tried to keep her sunny disposition but it was growing wearisome to do so as the days meshed together and as hunger gnawed away at her stomach. She didn't much want to even think of eating anything from this realm, for it couldn't quite compare to the delectable delights that had awaited her every time it was time to eat back in the realm of the faerie but it was coming to the point where she would have to stomach the vile creations that humans called food. Her eyes cast upwards as a sudden rumble shuddered the earth and a flash of lightning cracked across the sky. She just stood there for a moment and closed her eyes, keeping her face turned upward. She felt the first splats of water as it hit her skin before the clouds ripped apart and a torrent of rain fell down.
Her clothes quickly got soaked and clung to her skin as did her hair but in that moment, she didn't care. She felt like it was washing her of the grime of this realm and it made her feel slightly better..at least for the moment.
