The tide had taken her in to the port at Helsingor.Β The Danish town looked different some howβ¦.she gathered her furs close and rose not loosing her balance, yet holding fast to a wooden stay until she pulled herself onto the quay.Β Sailors, fishermen, and an abundance of young lads busily crowded the shore beyond, while Maireβs eyes roamed the shops as they lined the oceans shore.Β Something was strange, and the Irish princess felt a shiver of fear and knew the blush in her cheeks would give her away.Β
She was looking for her friend, a norseman to be sure, but she knew it was to Denmark that he had fled. Β Β He had brought her here before, but there was something very wrong here.Β Horses were pulling fancy chariots up and down the streets, and women wore tall hats and long wooden gowns.Β Mayhap the captain of her ship had ventured to the wrong watersβ¦.or at least to the wrong village.
